"Guys, this is my brother, Jimmy," Lizzie smiled as she sat at a lunch table with Jimmy and a few other people. Gemini greeted him sweetly, and Fwhip, her twin brother, just commented on his messy hair, which earned him a small smack from Gem. Shelby, the shortest, welcomed him eagerly, as well as Katherine, who seemed to really like flowers as her shirt was covered with them. Joel was there as well, Jimmy noticed him staring at Lizzie, which made him smile. "So, he was homeschooled?" Gem asked Lizzie curiously. "Mhm, elementary kids are jerks, y'know," "That's sad. But it's great to have you here, Jimmy," she smiled brightly, "Thanks, Gem" The table went into a conversation about embarrasing school memories, Jimmy just looked around the cafeteria at all the students, but he stopped on a blonde sitting with a person with bright red hair. He recognized the blonde, it was Scott. Then he realized Scott was also looking at him, Jimmy remembered just how beautiful his blue eyes were, they were even more beautiful when Scott was right in front of him. Wait what- "Jimmy, correct?" "Huh?" the darker blonde looked up, confused. "I asked your name." "Oh. Jimmy." "That's what I thought. Come with me." "What?" "God, are you deaf? I said 'come with me,'" The blonde scoffed. Jimmy stood up hastily, only to be stopped by Lizzie. "What do you want with him, Scott?" she questioned, glaring at the blonde. "To talk to him, duh." he rolled his eyes. "Let's go." Jimmy followed him, glancing back at Lizzie with a shrug. Lizzie turned to Joel, "follow them," she whispered before turning back to the table, Joel stood up and pretended to need to use the bathroom, instead he followed behind the two. "Wonder what that was about," Fwhip muttered. "Jimmy spilled his pasta on Scott yesterday, it might be about that." Lizzie explained with worry in her voice, maybe Scott was actually going to ruin his life. "He's dead," Shelby said. "Maybe, but Scott let him off with a warning," "What?" the twins said in unison. "I know, it's weird." she sighed, picking at her pasta. "We just have to wait for Jimmy to come back."
"So, did you need something?" Jimmy asked awkwardly, standing on the opposite side of the hallway from Scott. "About lunch yesterday, I believe I overreacted." "Overreacted?" Jimmy felt he reacted normally, most people would be mad if their shirt had been ruined, but if Scott wasn't mad at him, that was great. "Mhm. You're new, you don't know anything," that's harsh. "So, I'm willing to forget about your stupidity for today." even more harsh. "Um, do you need something or are you just gonna stand there and talk about how stupid I am?" Jimmy questioned, confused as to where this was going, as was Joel, who was listening from around the corner. "No, although I could probably make an entire PowerPoint on how stupid you are and could be," okay, now he's just being rude. "I'm kidding," Scott chuckled, although Jimmy still thought he was dead serious. "Okay.. so what is this about?" "Do you ever stop asking questions?" Jimmy didn't reply. "I'll take that as a no. Anyway," Scott sighed, crossing his arms. "What I've been trying to say is I wanna get to know you." "Get to know me?" Scott nodded. "As far as ruining my shirt, you seem like a likable person," "Thank.. you..?" Jimmy had literally no idea what Scott was trying to get at. "Clearly I need to dumb it down for you," he cleared his throat. "Jimmy, I want to try to be friends with you." "What?" "From what I've seen in the one class we have together, you're smart. Lizzie's friends seemed to enjoy your company, so, like I said, you're a likable person." "So, because I'm smart and my sister's friends like me, you wanna be my friend?" "Is that hard to believe?" "Yes," Jimmy admitted. "You're popular, you're smarter than me, and you have way more friends than I do. Why do you want me to be your friend?" "Are you seriously turning down a friendship?" "No?" "It sounds like you are. What, are you worried Lizzie will be mad at you for befriending me?" "No, but why would she?" "Not the point. Do you want another friend, or not, Jimmy?" "Yes, I do," Jimmy replied quickly, almost a little too quickly, in Joel's super totally profession opinion. "Great. Join me tomorrow at lunch." Okay?" Joel dashed back tp cafeteria as Scott began to walk away, jimmy stood there, confused.
"Scott wants Jimmy to be his friend," Joel said through deep breaths as he sat down, running wasn't fun. "What?" Lizzie gasped. "What did he say?" "Yes," he breathed. "Yes? Why?" "I dunno, but he said yes. He's gonna sit with Scott at lunch tomorrow." Lizzie watched as Scott sat back down with his brother, a smile plastered on his face, jimmy still wasn't back.
