When I was younger, I thought my life would be perfectly normal, and it would turn out the way I wanted it to. But soon, I realised that wasn't possible. My name is Jovie Tarleton, I'm originally from Scotland, but I moved to Hawkins at a young age. I felt scared at first, but after a few years of living here, I started to feel safe, and I started to feel at home. I grew up alongside my best friend, Steve Harrington, which definitely helped me fit in more. After my parent's death, I got adopted by Claudia Henderson and was lucky enough to have Dustin Henderson as my brother. So my life did turn out the way I wanted it to, just in a different way. Little did I know my life was gonna change only a few years after that.
"Dustin!" I yelled. "For fucks sake, we're gonna be late!"
After not getting an answer, I ran towards Dustin's room and met Lilo also going to his room. I opened the door and Lilo stood behind me, glaring at Dustin. He looked at us with a puzzled look while trying to pretend like he's not hiding his radio. I walked over to him and grabbed his radio and pressed the on button.
"Sorry, Suzie," I said. "Didn't wanna interrupt your radio makeout session but Dustin is pissing us off because we're gonna be late for school if he talks to you."
I turned it off and put down the antenna. Lilo grabbed Dustin's bag and we both ran out of the room to the front door. Our mum was standing there, looking at us worryingly as Dustin ran after us and scolded us for taking his radio. We put on our shoes and opened the door.
"Bye mum!" We yelled as we exited.
Dustin soon came running behind us again and we entered the car. I started it and drove to school while Lilo was fixing her makeup in the mirror. I looked over at her and sighed.
"You look beautiful," I said before turning my head to her again. "You don't need makeup to impress the boys."
She looked over at me and smiled. Dustin had been loudly sighing in the backseat since we started driving so I gave him his radio back. He acted like a child getting their candy back after their parents took it away because they were misbehaving.
I pulled up to the parking lot and we all got out of the car. Dustin ran his separate way while I and Lilo tried to run as fast as we could to class. When we got into the classroom, we apologised to the teacher and sat down. I sat down next to Robin as usual and started complaining about Dustin being as slow as a snail.
Soon class was over and I walked out with Robin towards the cafeteria. I and Robin had gotten quite close after she met Steve. Steve introduced me to her almost immediately because he thought we would be good friends, and he was right. I hung out with both of them a lot.
"Ok, here's the thing, right?" Robin started. "I can't ask her out, because if she's not.. fruity as you call it, I will have to live in a bunker for the rest of my life."
I and Steve had tried to convince her to ask Vickie out ever since she told us about Vickie, but she was too much of a pussy to do so.
"You don't have to live in a bunker," I said. "You can live in a cabin in the woods. Become the witch from Hans and Greta."
Robin rolled her eyes at me while I chuckled at my own joke. She stopped walking and turned to look at me. She looked me straight in the eyes.
"What do I do?" She asked.
"Just do it like this." I said.
I pulled her closer to me and pushed our lips together. The kiss didn't last longer than 5 seconds but it still felt like it lasted for ages. I pulled away and saw Robin's shocked face which made me laugh out loud. I patted her head and linked arms with her, continuing to walk.
"Trust me, she is fruity." I said. "It's just like Steve said. It's boobies, she definitely likes boobies."
Robin smiled at me, it looked like a genuine smile which is something I didn't see on her face often. We talked about Vickie all the way to the cafeteria and then we parted ways. And that's when my head got a hold of me. Why didn't I have anyone I was interested in? Sometimes I thought I was just incapable of liking someone and that I would die alone while my 8 cats feast on my body. Ok, maybe that's a little bit too far and it probably won't happen. But all I'm saying is just.. I want someone too. I want to crush on someone, trying to figure out how to tell them and looking into each other's eyes until the world ended.
"But, as long as you're into band." A male voice behind me said.
I could recognise that voice anytime, it was Eddie Munson, the school's freak. I thought he seemed pretty cool from all the things Dustin told me about him, but other people seemed to think otherwise. I turned around and saw him standing on top of the cafeteria tables, being the freak everyone knew him as.
"Or parties." He continued. "Or a game where you toss balls into laundry baskets."
Jason looked like he was about to fight Eddie, but we all knew Eddie would easily win that fight. Jason always pretended to be cool, when in reality he wasn't. Eddie put up his hands and made devil horns on his head with his fingers while sticking his tongue out at Jason. It made me chuckle seeing him being his usual weird self. He looked over at me and we shared eye contact for a few seconds before he jumped off his table, scaring a few others while he's at it. I looked over at Dustin and he was smiling, but I could tell he was nervous about something, I just wasn't sure what.

We got to season 4 in like 3 days 💀💀 anyhow that's not the point. The point is that my friend's name is Dan and he knows this girl who he talks to daily but he won't confess to her and he keeps telling us that he doesn't wanna date her even if he got a crush on her. Her name is Vicky 😭😭😭 our ship name for them is Dicky. And we laughed about Robin's crush being named Vickie. BUT THEN WHEN IT TURNED OUT VICKIE HAD A BOYFRIEND NAMED DAN!!!
