Outfit For This Chapter:
When lunch was over, I decided to go find Lilo. I found her outside school smoking with her friends. Both of us were pretty popular in school so we didn't have a hard time making friends, but she's stayed with the same group of friends since her first day of school while I switch between groups so I'm not known as someone who is a member of a specific group, except my friendship with Steve, of course. Everyone knew we had been friends since adolescents, and they often talked about it. Anyhow, Lilo and I were very similar yet very different. I was known as a rebel, a troublemaker. I had been in juvenile detention a few times, so Jovienile is what people called me. While Lilo was more known as the person who didn't speak a lot, an undercover angel, a person who seemed like they're a troublemaker but they're actually the person who causes the least trouble in the entire school.
When she saw me approaching, she stood up and walked a few meters away from her friends. She had gotten used to me checking up on her at least once a day at school, so she just blankly stared at me.
"Getting high again?" I asked.
"Getting drunk again?" She asked.
She had a point. She would always get high, and I would always get drunk, but we made great memories that way. That's the only time we could escape from reality and not care about our past. We stood quiet for a while before I spoke up again.
"You doing okay?" I asked.
She looked down at the ground and nodded slowly. I could tell she was lying, but I didn't wanna bother her about it. She didn't like talking about her feelings, which is something I could relate to. We always hid our feelings from the people around us even when we needed them the most.
"You going to the game today?" I asked.
She looked back at me and smiled, relieved that she didn't have to explain herself to me.
"Yeah, you?" She asked back. "Or are you too busy getting a boner looking at Steve?"
"You know I don't feel that way for him!" I said. "We're just friends, and that's what we've always been."
She rolled her eyes at me, looking at me like it's obvious I'm lying. Even if I'm not (i am).
"So." She started. "All those times when you two went into your room for hours, not even coming out when it's dinner, you were just friends?"
She scoffed, still not believing it.
"Yeah." I said happily. "And no, I'm not coming to the game."
"Then what are you doing?" She asked. "Making out with Stevie boy?
"I'm gonna wait for Dustin's campaign to end, so I'm gonna sit outside their classroom for 3 years." I said.
"Yaaay!" Lilo said sarcastically.
She giggled, kind of creepy, but that's how she always giggled.
"Wow." She said. "You're going for Eddie now? Steve is gonna be heartbroken when he finds out."
I rolled my eyes and began to walk away from her before she yelled after me.
"Good luck!" She yelled.
I flipped her off without looking back, but I could still feel her rolling her eyes, smiling.
