The Last Breath

I was in the kitchen making myself breakfast, while Mum and Dad were at work, Meanwhile Daniel was helping Mr Bloomingfield with some office work, I had to go help my best friend Beth with some factory work as her father was off due an illness, which Beth never told me but she said he couldn't work anymore. And so her father had left Beth In charge and I promised Beth, I'd help her, I was on my way to Beth's house when I overheard something about how England will be to war with Germany.

I wanted to ask what was going on but I promised that I would never interfere in People's businesses, I arrived at Beth's house and I knocked on the door.
" Good Morning Cassie" it was Beth's Mother Mrs Fielding. "Good Morning Mrs Fielding, is Beth here? Me and Beth were about to go to factory to help out do some work" I loved Mrs Fielding, she made the most amazing blueberry muffins ever.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Mrs Fielding had her very own bakery called "Fielding Cakes and Pastries" I would go there sometimes, I was always considered a special customer I would get pastries for free. " Beth should be back soon from the library" would you like some carrot cake and some tea before you leave?" Mrs Fielding said. "Yes please" Cassie answered. "So how's everything at home, how's Daniel? I heard he didn't feel so well last Month''

"Yes, Um, Daniel had Diphtheria, had it for a few days. He woke up with a fever and difficulty breathing. The doctor said that Daniel had Diphtheria and that he must have plenty of rest, however he's fine now. Cassie answered"

"Goodness me, must of been worrying'' Said Mrs Fielding

One thing you should know about me and Daniel was that Daniel was older than I was, he was 18 I was only 14. I was home-schooled, my family are too poor to pay for an education and so I help the fielding family so I can get paid. I do my studying and homework when I usually have a day off work. And before you ask Daniel had finished his education. In fact, Daniel would tutor me, Me and Daniel got along pretty well as siblings, our parents were away a lot working at a Delivery business, they didn't get paid much but it was enough to feed our family.

"Oh by the way, Mr Fielding wanted me to let you know that he needs you to pop by in his office to grab some files for him, Retirement files, unfortunately he can't work in factory anymore due to him unwell and unable to return. Good news is he's leaving you in charge of the job, Beth will give you a hand, would you mind?" Said Mrs fielding

" Not at all" Cassie answered

*Door knocks*

"Hello Mother" Beth Answered

"Cassie Green is here, ready for work, also make sure you grab some retirement papers in your father's office after work, I've let Cassie Know.

"Cassie, Beth is here, oh before you leave I made some Apple Pie I thought you may want some so there you are" Said Mrs Fielding

"Thank you so much" Cassie answered

And I was on my way to work with Beth in the factory.
