Hours had gone by. I was sitting in my bedroom, I was grief stricken. Ever since my parents died, Daniel was all I had left, I couldn't stop thinking about how much I missed him. His hugs, his safety, his comfort. Daniel wasn't a very much affectionate person but with me as a his little sister he showed me more love than anyone else gave me. Oh why did Daniel have to go. I couldn't help but think what if he was actually dead. My stomach began hurting.

"Girls dinner" called out Mrs Pillsbury
I sat next to rose, today it was meatloaf with packaged potatoes, it looked unappetizing however I found it difficult to eat because my mind kept worrying about Daniel. I couldn't eat. My face was swollen because I had been quiet all day, my eyes puffy.

"Cassie?" Said Rose looking worried, "you haven't eaten anything, you need to eat you'll get sick" At this point I didn't care what happened to me. Everyone got up and headed outside for some fresh air meanwhile I looked out the window. A young boy who looked roughly my age appeared.

"Hello I'm Liam, what's your name?" He seemed pretty sweet, brown hair, green eyes, he looked smart.
"Cassie Green, pleasure to meet you Liam"
"Well Cassie what a pleasure to meet you too" he said with such a bright smile. Liam looked handsome, his smile sent butterflies it was like god sent him to me. I was officially 17 now meaning the orphanage was getting empty, some people decided to leave. However Daniel had wanted me to stay and be looked after.
"Ah Mr Stowe, I see you've met your new roommate Miss Green"Mrs Pillsbury said coming from the garden.
"Roommate?" I asked
"Yes Mr Liam Stowe here will be your roommate meaning you will both share the same bedroom as Rose has left and we have some new people coming so you both will have to share rooms" Said Pillsbury

It was 1921, the war was still going on, the orphanage turned into a home for homeless children/sick children.
"I'm sure we will get on well" Liam said smiling at me. I led him to our bedroom it was a bunk bed. I slept at the bottom, Liam slept at the top. Liam sounded very nice and it had seemed we got on well, loads of jokes and laughter. Which is what I needed after everything that has happened recently however Daniel never left my mind. I had known Liam for 4 months now we were closer than ever. After dinner. Me and Liam went to go outside for some air, we sat down on a bench together.
"So Liam how did you end up here" I asked curiously
"My father passed away in the war, and my mother was attacked and held hostage somewhere in Germany I haven't seen her in 2 years" he said, "what about you Cassie?" He asked.
"My parents passed away, my brother Daniel got send to war and this is how I ended up here, I've only just been told that my brother has gone MIA, I'm so scared I can't lose him". I said trying not to think of the thought I felt like I want to cry. Liam moved closer to me taking my hand. "I promise nothing has happened to him, sometimes these telegraphs aren't that reliable as we think, I promise I'll protect you" He said promisingly. I felt butterflies his touch assured me I was safe. I thanked him and headed to bed.

4am in the morning

Everyone was still asleep, I screamed from a nightmare. Liam jumped up and came down as fast as he could.
"Cassie.. Cassie, talk to me are you okay? He said looking worried, he put his hand on my forehead. I bursted in tears I had a nightmare about Daniel he died.
"Daniel... he's D-Dead" I cried
Shh shh it's alright it's just a nightmare. Liam said Comforting, he hugged me so tight it felt like Daniel's touch which brought back flashbacks but I felt safe. Liam laid down next to me comforting me to try and get me back to sleep, I laid on his chest with his arms around me. After feeling safe in his arms I fell asleep once again.
