The Black Hills Orphanage

I arrived at the orphanage late at Midnight. I already hated it here, all I wanted to do is run away and go home to see my brother but I couldn't

''Good Evening My name is Miss Smith, but you can call me Amie. You must be Cassie, I'll show you to your room''

Miss Smith led me to my room. It was a very small bedroom.

''Someone will give you a tour tomorrow around, Sleep tight'' Miss Smith said

I began to unpack a little bit, and fell asleep.

5AM

''Rise and Shine sleeping beauty''

I woke up confused and looked at the time.

''Um it's only 5 in the morning'' I said

''Yep that is the time we orphans get up. Oh pardon me I didn't properly introduce myself, my name is Rose Gardener, and you must be?

''I'm Cassie... Cassie Green''

''Nice to meet you, get dressed and meet me outside near the entrance. Said Rose

I got dressed, and met Rose near the entrance.

'' So we have chores starting soon, and that is things like making sure we do our homework, and other things. We have school starting in a week, Miss Smith has left me in charge to make sure you know what your doing'' Said Rose

*BREAKFAST TIME*

The breakfast was horrible, I didn't eat it, the porridge was lumpy, the fruit was mouldy in a few parts, and the milk was sour. I felt like I was eating prison food.

''CASSIE GREEN, WHY HAVEN'T YOU ATE YOUR BREAKFAST'' said one of the staff

''Oh well, first off the porridge is extremely lumpy and the milk is sour, it is absolutely vile'' I said

*Everyone Gasps*

'' YOU LITTLE-''

'' Okay Mr Pinkerton, let's not be too aggressive with the newbie'' Said Miss Smith

Miss Smith grabbed my arm and rushes me to my room.

''Ow, Miss, your hurting me'' I said painfully

''Well Miss Green, maybe if you weren't so ungrateful, neither of this would have happened'' Said Miss Smith

She opened the door and chucked me in really hard, I started to cough.

''You will stay in your room, and reflect on your behaviour, you will not be out until dinner. is that clear?

''Yes'' I said really annoyed

'' YES WHAT'' Said Miss Smith furiously

'Yes Miss'' I said rolling my eyes.

She closed the door, I laid in my bed starring at the celling wishing that all of this was a dream but it wasn't, it was real.

*Door Knocks* Cassie it's me Rose, May I come in?

"Sure'' I said

Rose came in with a fresh bottle of Orange Juice and a Granola Bar.

''Thank you'' I said

" You should've kept quiet" Rose said

"I am a person, I have a right to say if I don't like something, and I do not like being told when not to do something'' I said

" How did you end up here?" Rose asked curiously

I sighed

''My Parents passed away, which I never knew how. All I remember is that I came back from helping my friend in the factory, and realised they weren't home. I woke up next morning I went downstairs and I asked Daniel, where my parents were, he thought they may have stopped at a friend's house. So me and Daniel were getting ready to leave to the shop until we saw a man on our porch, who told us our parents died. And that's how I ended up here.'' I said

''Who was Daniel'' Rose said confused

''Daniel was my 18 year old brother'' I said

''So how come he isn't here?'' Rose asked

''Because the agency had said Daniel has to fight for the upcoming war coming eventually. And if he didn't he would be arrested, and so I was taken away from my hometown which was Cotswold and ended up here. But Daniel said he would write to me and I write back. How did you end up here?'' I said

''Quite short actually, I was a misbehaved child, I would break things, shout, scream, etc. And eventually My Grandparents brought me here, My parents died in shooting Massacre, I didn't have any siblings, I was an only child.'' Said Rose really not caring

" Oh, life is tough. Anyways I'm not allowed out until dinner. So just don't worry about me missing lunch'' I said

*CHORES TIME*

''Damn it, I have to go do chores, You sure you'll be okay?'' Said Rose

''Yeah, I'll be fine'' I said

Rose left, and I began to do some reading when there was a knock at the door

*Door Knocks*

''Come in'' I said

''Hello Cassie, I have your school uniform, You'll be attending an orphanage School called Oak Dartmoor Academy next week'' Said the receptionist.

Ugh this was the last thing I needed I never attended school because like I said my parents could never afford it, instead I had Daniel tutor me.

It was already lunch time and I was still in my bedroom but I was reading a book called The lost Key, it's a very interesting book. It was about a boy called Charlie who was trapped in a room because he had lost the key and in order to find his way out, he had to make a plan.

* Door Knocks*
Cassie it's me Rose

"Come in"

"Hey, I didn't bring you much but there was a slice of Carrot cake so there you are" Rose said handing it to me.

"Thank you" I said

"Hey I know that book" Rose said excitedly
" Yeah my mum gave it to me for my 10th birthday" I said

"Anyways I'm off to the library now, I have to return a few books" Rose said

"Actually, considering we are going School in less than a week, do you think you could pop by in the library and find me some educational books?" I said

"Sure I'll see what I can find for you" Said Rose

"Thanks" I said

Whilst Rose was in the library, I began to pack my school bag, sorting out what I'll be needed, I didn't really know what to pack in a school bag considering I have been homeschooled my entire life. So I just packed a few pens and a notebook with a book of my own. Rose came back and gave me some educational books like Careers and future.

5PM

*Dinner Time*

I left my room finally after being punished for my behavior at breakfast, I promised Rose that I would keep quiet and not say a word to avoid any mishap.  Today's menu was Meatloaf, and it actually wasn't that bad. I finished dinner and headed back to my room and started to study considering school started tomorrow. I was excited, yet nervous. But I never told Rose about me being homeschooled I decided to keep it a secret.

7PM
I finished doing a bit of study and decided to go out with the other orphans for some fresh air before bedtime.

9PM

* Bedtime*
I headed back in my room, and got changed in my pajamas and popped my school uniform on the side for tomorrow. Maybe it wasn't too bad here, the other orphans were really nice. And me and rose had became best friends.

5AM

*Good Morning All orphans please get ready for school and head down for breakfast*

The Bus was going to be here soon. I got dressed in my new school uniform and grabbed my bag and headed downstairs for breakfast.

"Morning Cassie" Said Rose

"Morning'' I said

"You ready for school? Sit next to me in the bus if you'd like'' Said Rose

" Of course" I said getting ready to leave

The bus arrived and I was on my way to school with Rose.
