The News

I finished Work at 6pm, My parents weren't home yet, which was strange because they would have finished an hour ago.

''Hello Daniel'' I said really happy to see him.

'' Hi Cassie, Are you okay?, How was work?'' Daniel asked

'' Work was fine, I'm just a little confused, Mum and Dad were supposed to be home an hour ago, and they aren't here'' I said

'' Actually I thought the exact same thing, Maybe they popped to go see Aunt Jane's grave'' Daniel Said

'' Yes, but today is Wednesday, they go to see Aunt Jane on Friday.'' I said

'' I wouldn't worry about it Cassie, I'm sure they will be home soon, maybe they went to collect the Daily Mail newspaper Daniel said, comforting me as I felt really worried. There is some leftover spaghetti in the fridge, I could heat some for you if your hungry? ''Daniel said

''No thank you Daniel, I don't feel hungry, I might just go to bed'' I said

''Okay, Goodnight Cassie, and don't worry okay, I'm here if you need me'' Daniel said giving me a hug.

'' Okay, Night Daniel'' I said

I went to bed feeling really worried, it had been over 2 hours, and my parents were still not home, I tried my best to stay calm and I dozed off to sleep.

6AM

Today was Thursday, and I had a day off work, Me and Daniel were going to go grocery shopping and unload our Laundry. I got out of my bed, headed to the bathroom, got dressed and went downstairs.

''Good Morning Cassie'' Daniel said

''Morning Daniel, Mum and Dad are still not back yet?'' I asked

'' Unfortunately not, maybe they stayed at Miss Brown's house for the night, as they have to travelled a lot during the day'' Daniel said

''Oh okay I guess so'' I said

'' Anyways I made waffles because I know they are your favourite, so I made them for breakfast'' Daniel said

'' Wow thanks Daniel I love waffles'' I said really excitedly

''Anyways, after you finished I'm off to do some shopping. Would you like to come?'' Daniel asked

''Yes please'' I said

''Okay go put your coat on'' Daniel said

Me and Daniel put our coats on and open the door, when we see a gentlemen standing on our doorstep with a suit and a black hat.

''Good Morning, My name is Mr Devereaux, I work for the detective agency, is Mr Daniel Green and Miss Cassie Green here?

''Yes, that is us, is something wrong?'' Daniel said looking really confused.

''I think it's best if we talk inside. May I come in?'' Says Mr Devereaux

''uh, yes of course, please come in'' Daniel said''

I looked at Daniel really worried, we sit down and Daniel puts his hand on my shoulder for comfort.

''Sir is everything alright? Daniel asked looking panicked.

'' there isn't an easy way to say this but your parents Mr and Mrs Green have unfortunately passed away, Yesterday evening, I am so sorry for your loss'' Mr Devereaux said

I looked at Daniel with tears in my eyes.

''No this can't be true'' I ran upstairs and I slam the door as hard as I could

''Cassie wait!'' Daniel says

'' and unfortunately, your sister will need to be going to an Orphanage, we will pick her up tomorrow'' Says Deveraux

''WHAT! NO YOU CAN'T TAKE MY SISTER AWAY FROM ME, I AM OLD ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF HER, I AM 18, I'M NOT GOING TO LET YOU DO THIS! I'M ALL SHE HAS.'' Daniel said really upset and angry.

''Mr Green, I'm sorry, but this is the law, Cassie has to go to an orphanage as you have been put down to join the war'' Says Deveraux

''I beg your pardon, I will not be joining the war, Cassie is my sister and I will not let you take her to some random orphanage'' Says Daniel

''Mr Green, if you refuse to join the war and accept Cassie to an orphanage, I will have no choice but to have you arrested, good day to you'' Deveraux says furiously before leaving out the door.
