Devyn's POV.
The walk to the library isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. It's quiet, almost peaceful. There are people riding bikes, some people jogging.
The weather feels great too. Not too hot and thankfully, not freezing or humid. It's nice spring weather and there's a nice breeze in the air.
Spring weather would have to be my favorite. I love the flowers blooming, the sun shinning. The smell of a garden and just seeing all the smiling faces of those hard workers.
I've never been to this town before. The people here seem nice so far, even if I haven't talked to anyone yet. They're all waves and smiles. It's very different from my old town.
I sigh in disappointment. Thinking of my old town brings up sad memories. I don't understand what I did to make my mother act the way she has been towards me.
She was never like that before. She was always so kind, so sweet and respectful. Even after she and father separated. She was still kind after she met her boyfriend. Then a month ago, things change.
She's been so distant and so rude. I just don't understand it. I don't know what I did to make her hate me. Maybe she finally realized it was my fault for the divorce.
I sigh again and look up. I am now in front of the library. I open the front door and walk in. The front door had a bell on it which went off and alerted the librarian that someone was there.
" Hello miss, how are you today?" Says the librarian.
I look at her and offer a smile. " Hello, I am well. How are you?" I say back.
She grins at me. " I'm doing just fine. Let me know if you need anything dear. " she said.
" I will. Thank you. " I then go to check out some books.
I'm not even sure where to start. I love books. It's always been a way for me to escape reality. I know that seems like a strange way to put it, but it gets me out of my mind for hours at a time. Books are my best friend. At least I know they will always be there for me.
I finally find the fictional section. There in the isle is another person. He was tall, had dirty blonde hair, he looked a bit athletic, looked a little nerdy as well. He was currently wearing glasses. In his hand was the first book in the Harry Potter series.
He then looked over and saw I was looking at the book he was holding. He grins. I then notice he sees me looking at the book.
" Have you ever ready this series?" He asks.
I shake my head. " No, I've never read it before. Is it good?" I ask.
His entire look brightens and a huge grin appears on his face. " It's the best series in the world. The author is so creative. I've never read a series like this before. " he starts ranting about the book.
I can't help the small smile that appears on my face. After a bit he stops. His entire face goes red and he ducks his head down. " Sorry. I tend to get carried away sometimes. My friend always laughs at me because of it. " he says running the back of his neck.
I laugh a little. " Don't worry. I don't mind. I always love seeing people so passionate about things. " I say.
He perks up a bit. He then sticks out his hand. His smile right back. " It's nice to meet you. I'm Adrian. " he says.
I shake his hand in response. " My names Devyn. Nice to meet you. " I say.
He smiles. " So, I've never seen you around here before. " he says.
I nod and start to look over the book shelf. " Yeah, I moved here today actually. I've been having some money troubles, so my father is letting me stay with him for a while. " I say.
" Oh, that's nice of him. " says Adrian.
I nod in response. " Yeah..." I say.
" Here, you've got to try this book. " he says.
He's holding out the book for me. I look from it back to him. I blink. " Aren't you going to get it?" I ask.
" Nah, I have all the books at my house. I just saw this and couldn't resist. " he says.
I offer a small smile. I then take the book and turn it around to read the back. After reading the back I look back at him. " Sounds interesting. " I say.
" Uh... YEAH!" He yells while grinning.
" SSSHHHHH!!!" Came a voice from another isle.
We flinch. His face goes very red again. " Sorry. " he mumbled. I laugh at that.
" I'll give this book a try. " I say.
He practically jumps in joy. " You won't regret it. I promise. " he says.
I laugh in response and then sigh. " Thank you for the book recommendation. I have somewhere to be sadly though. It was nice meeting you. " I say.
He nods. " Hey, if you end up liking the book. I have a friend who hasn't read it yet either. Maybe we can convince him together. " says Adrian.
I snort. " Sure. " I say.
" Want to meet here tomorrow to read after lunch. I have a friend coming here with me tomorrow. She's a little happy for lucky, you know. Always positive. " says Adrian.
I nod in response. " Sure. " I say.
" Awesome. I'll see you tomorrow then. " he says.
I nod and wave bye. I go and purchase the book before leaving and walking back home. I walked up the driveway and saw my dads car was already here. I walked forward and opened the door.
Right away I smelt food. It smelt very good. Almost like he was cooking chili. I feel Nostalgic then. It's been so long since I've had a meal from my father.
That's when I hear him as I close the door. " Hello Devyn. "
