Devyn's POV.
Rome is very nice. Here he is in front of me, worried for me. " So, I found out tonight that my best friend knows you. His name is Adrian." Said Rome.
My eyes widen and I grin up at him. " You know Adrian? He is very kind and I found a new book series to read thanks to him. " I say.
He lets out a little laugh. " Sounds like something he'd do. He's always been obsessed with books since he was little. " said Rome.
" I can see that. It was always a get away for me. " I say.
" Adrian said it can be like losing yourself into someone else's made up world. I've never been able to concentrate enough to read an entire book series. " said Rome.
" That's my brother. He could never sit still for anything. After a while he started taking something to help him focus and has been fine since. " I said.
" Perhaps I should look into that. My dad is always telling me I need to focus more. " said Rome.
" Have you tried caffeine in the morning? Kind of like a strong cup of coffee?" I ask.
He shook his head. " I normally don't drink coffee. I mean, I like coffee, but I never seem to have time for it. " said Rome.
" Well try a strong cup of coffee with breakfast. They say caffeine can help you focus as well. " I said.
" If you're recommending it that strongly then I'll defiantly have to try it. " said Rome with a small smile.
I feel a slight blush on my cheeks. The wind shifts and I brush my hair away from my face. He seems to have frozen though. I can't tell what he's feeling or thinking. It's as if his entire expression has gone blank.
He shakes his head a second later and smiles at me again. " Sorry. I was lost in thought for a second. Your shampoo reminded me of a scent I used to smell a lot when I was little. " said Rome.
My eyes brightened. " Really? Feel like sharing that memory?" I ask.
He grins. " Sure. When I was little, around six years old I went for a walk with my grandmother. We would always walk together every time she came to visit. One day we went further than we had ever walked before and came across a small field of beautiful flowers and bushes with wild berries on them. My grandmother loved that place and it smelt so wonderful there. That place turned out to be the place we went to every time we were together from then on. I remember my favorite part of that field was the raspberry bushes. That's what your shampoo smells like to me. " said Rome.
I grin at him. That really is a wonderful memory to have. I didn't get to spend much time with my grandparents before they passed away due to my father's possessiveness. I'm glad he has memories like he can cherish. " That sounds amazing, and you nailed the scent. I use raspberry shampoo. " I say.
Now it's his turn to grin at me. " I knew it. I just so happen to have the best nose in my family. " He brags.
I start to laugh, and he joins me a few seconds later. I miss just being to hang out with my old friends like this, when I was able to in high school that is. We continue to talk for a few minutes before a car pulls up and the window rolls down. There sits Claudia.
" Hop in the car girl. I've got a fun night planned for us. " she says.
I grin and look at Rome. " Thanks for keeping me company. It was nice talking to you and again, I'm sorry about my dad. " I say.
" It was an honor to keep you company. I've got to head back to the party anyway. I'll see you around some time soon. " said Rome.
" Hopefully. " I say before hoping into the car with Claudia and waving by as we speed off into the night.
Rome's POV.
I watch as she disappears around the corner before I turn and start to walk back to the party. According to my dad everyone's been asking where I am.
So here I go, back to a party I don't want to be a part of anymore. Way I really want to do is hang out more with my mate. She's so beautiful and her fathers a jerk.
If she ever asks anyone for help with him, I know I wouldn't hesitate. I noticed that during our talk she didn't offer anything from her past. Which is completely ok. It's not like I expected her to open up to me right away.
She deserves the chance to tell her story at her own time, that is if she even wants to tel her story. She could just be wanting to start over and forget the past. No matter what she decides I know ok will always be there to support and respect her decisions.
I know I'd want someone to do that for me. As I near the left I can hear the loud chatter of people and the music blasting. The scent of werewolves and humans get stronger the closer infer to the party. Once I'm there I go to find my dad to let him know I'm back.
He's currently talking to the Alpha and Luna of the pack. I straighten up my outfit a bit so it doesn't look completely horrible before I make my way over.
" Welcome back son. Where did you even go?" Asked my father.
I looked up and smiled. " I met my mate tonight. " I announced.
They went completely silent for a minute before my father laughed and clapped me on the shoulder. " Congratulations son. Where is she?" He asked.
" Sadly she had to leave. The reason I was gone was because I had a small altercation with her father and something didn't seem right so I followed her car. Turns out they had an argument and the truck pulled over and she got out. It then left leaving her on the side of the road. She called her friend to come pick her up and I kept her company until her friend picked her up. Her name is Devyn. " I said as I sent a memory I had of her over mind link to them.
They were all grinning now. " Fantastic Rome. This is so exciting. " cried my mother.
" Do you want to announce it tonight during the ceremony or would you rather do it once she's here?" Asked our Alpha.
" I'd rather wait until she's here. She felt a pull towards me but we were interrupted before I could tell her what that pull was. She's human. " I say.
" Nothing wrong with that. We will just have to introduce her to our kind at her pace. " said the Luna.
" Exactly. I'm not too worried about it. " I say.
" Good. Now. Let's go greet everyone and make sure this party goes smoothly. It'll be a while before it's just us here. " said my father.
" Yes sir. " I say and with that, we do our best to continue the part and I just can't stop thinking about my mate.
