Cherry leaned into the seat. Vance stood beside her, all of his concentration on the pinball machine in front of him. He slammed the side of the machine, causing the girl to look up from the bench.
Her bubble gum popped. "You can't be this passionate about a game."
Before he could answer, his attention was drawn over to a curly head of hair across the arcade. He scoffed.
"That stupid fucking kid. When I get my hands on him, I swear to God—" Vance glared daggers into the back of the dude's head.
"Who are we talking about?" Cherry leaned forward.
Vance and Cherry were both unashamed in their staring, but at least Cherry tried to keep her voice down when she was shit-talking. Vance made sure to scream their full legal name as loud as possible.
She followed Vance's pointing finger at the boy. For the life of her, she could not remember his name.
"The dude from the office?" She questioned, looking back at her friend.
"Finn, Finney, Funny, it doesn't matter." Vance waved a hand dismissively. "That dumbass is the reason I got suspended!"
"You're the reason you got suspended. Because you punched him. I think."
"Yeah? So?"
The girl shrugged and slumped onto the bench once more, scrolling through her phone absentmindedly. Vance continued his mumbled complaints.
Cherry sat up again properly, a grin growing on her face. "He's kinda cute."
"Can you be on my side? For once?" Vance narrowed his eyes at her.
