Winter 9

«You are lucky it is not broken», said Harvey in a sleepy yet serious tone. It was night and cold. «Regardless, for the next couple of weeks, you should really take a break, find someone to help you with the daily chores in the farm».

«I'm sure you are overreacting as usuall» laughed Lacryma, but fast groaned in pain when she tried to step on her bandaged foot. Shit! Have I really fucked my self up so much? «Seriously now, Harvey? This is not the first time I smash my self down there and you always manage to fix me up!"

Harvey looked at her under his glasses, while he was putting back in his suitcase his tools, bandages and other medical equipment. Lacryma was sitting on the couch of the small living room,  clearly in pain trying her best to lighten up the situation, pretending that all was cool. This woman amazed him. It was only in the spring when she showed up in Pelican Town with nothing but a suitcase. Most of the townsfolks did not really have faith in her that she could pull through reviving the old farm. When Marcello Morabito – or Marcy, as everyone called him, died, Fragola farm was left unattended for more than a decade. There was a will which for more than a decade Lacryma was ignoring. Marcy, was leaving his farm to her, his granddaughter, stating his last wish: that she would continue his legacy but only when she would have taken the decision to change her life. When Lacryma read the letter with her grandfather's will, she thought that it was some kind of a joke. Old man's delirium. Why would she ever want to change her life? She was married to the man of her dreams, just got a promotion, drove a fancy car. Could afford designers clothing and had cleaning service in her luxury apartment in the heart of Zuzu city. Her life was perfect. Little had she known. Nothing should be taken for granted. It is required nothing but a mere moment for one's world to get shuttered.

Harvey, smiled at her and his face had a truly sweet thoughtful expression.

"Lacryma, your ankle is badly twisted, my dear" he said softly. "You have done an amazing job here. I mean look at this place. It used to be a wreck and now your farm is the jewel of the valley. You even renovated the cottage and you can finally say that you have a proper home. You need to step down a little. Take a break. With this shitty weather anyway, don't try to convince me that you've got so much to do. Still you are not able to let your ass sit for a day. What the hell have you been doing in the mines in a snowy day like today? Normal people would not want to leave the warmth of their home with a blizzard being around the corner".

He poured some freshly brewed coffee in two mugs giving one to her and helped her sit a little better on the couch arranging some pillows behind her back. She took the coffee and closed her eyes in eternal gratitude while sipping the hot heavenly liquid in to her mouth. She stretched her wounded leg on the couch, smirked from pain but suddenly her eyes were wide open and looked directly at Harvey with a huge grin on her lips.

"Tomorrow is his birthday, Harvey", she said while still keeping the coffee mug in front of her face holding it with her both hands.

"Are you talking about Sebastian, now?" asked Harvey confused. She nodded playfully. "You should know by now that the guy is not by any means the party type". Harvey stated with a complain in his voice. He didn't like where this was going.

"Give me my backpack" demanded Lacryma. She was so excited that for a moment she forgot all about the pain, the twisted ankle was causing her. "Right there, near the piano" she pointed behind him. Harvey gazed his eyes through the room. The living room was a small cozy space, lighted mainly by the fireplace. The dancing flames were creating a warm welcoming feeling. A comfortable blue velvet couch with a simple coffee table, an old piano and a bookcase, a few well cared indoors plants in the corners. The floor was covered with a soft woolen beige carpet. He spotted the backpack and he quickly handed it over to her. She grabbed it eagerly and opened it searching frantically for something. Finally she pulled out an old dirty piece of cloth which was covering something by the shape of it. She threw away the backpack and hold the cloth ball for a few seconds like it was a trophy, looking at Harvey full of excitement.
