Winter 10
The valley was covered in a white blanket. The trees were heavy with snow on it's tips from the previous night and Lacryma could hear nothing but the eerie silence of stillness. The fresh crisp of air was carrying the burning wood smell from the cottage and the sun was pale sending rays of warmth on her face. Spot, the friendly retriever who decided to make Fragola farm home in the spring, was following Sam around. He came closer to the little porch where Lacryma was sitting and he pointed at the hardwood he had gathered.
"Greenhouse checked, animals fed and we have eggs to make Gus's monster omelet for a year" he patted. "Man, I need to eat something or I'm gonna fade" he shouted holding his stomach.
"Yeah let's go in, I have pizza in the freezer, would not say no to some lunch my self" said Lacryma making her way in the cottage holding the door behind her so he could come inside too.
They took off their boots and jackets -well Lacryma only had one boot as her right foot was bandaged and covered with an over-sized woolen sock, Sam stormed to the couch diving through the pillows letting his body to crush. It felt so good. Lacryma took the coffee thermos from the counter and turn on the oven.
"Pepperoni or Margarita? Or both?" asked Lacryma.
Sam scratched the back of his head thinking. "Hm you know what .. even though I really want to stay longer and eat your food, I have this band practice scheduled for today and that is .. uhmm" he looked at his phone "in less than an hour. Maybe I should get going"
Oh right. The band.
"Ohh that's a pity" said Lacryma in disappointment. 'We didn't really get to catch up, you came so early and went out immediately, I feel guilty now".
I don't want to be alone, damn it.
"Unless" said Sam with a shine on his face like he had just made a huge discovery, "I cancel the rehearsal. And we eat. Can text Seb to join us here if that's not a prob for you of course. It's his birthday today did you know? It would be actually good to ..."
At that point Lacryma stopped listening to whatever Sam was trying to say and the only thing that she could think of was Sebastian in her house.
My plan was to find him and give him the present. He did not bother to even answer to my text yesterday. But I can't really walk or ride. How would I be able to find him? Maybe it's more convenient if he comes over, then I give him the present and it would be less awkward if Sam is here. What Sam is going to think?
Sam tapping on her shoulder brought her back to reality. "There, I texted him, he is coming over" he grinned satisfied with his actions "now we can chill and you can finally show me your MTG (Magic the Gathering) collection. "Awesome" he shouted and jumped back on the couch.
Ok, now you have just to deal with this. Also you can always choose to not give the present.
"Yeah ok, let me just put the pizzas in".
She took a moment to look better at Sam while she was preparing the food. He has been clearly working out in the summer and it could show. This guy was so different from all the people she knew back in the city. Always with a smile uppon his face it felt like he had a special mission to make everyone around him happy. He was the exact opposite from his best friend. If Sam was the light, with his light blonde hair, tanned skin from hours of skating and his green emerald eyes then Sebastian was darkness. She then realized that she cannot recall the exact characteristics of Sebastian's face as it was most of the times hidden behind his emo haircut. Raven black hair. But she could remember the pale porcelain skin, the pinkish smooth lips and his delicate slim figure always dressed in black skinny jeans and oversize black hoodies. He was charming. And she was helplessly attracted to him like the moth is attracted to the lamp's light.
