In this chapter (which will be relatively small comparing to the previous ones) I will use Harvey's journal to reveal some information about what is going on in Pelican Town in late Spring and early Summer. His observations will give you clues never revealed before, especially about Lacryma and Sebastian. The story is about them after all. Not necessarily about them getting together we know they will but about this magic that love can bring together two very different hearts even if one of them is cloaked. At this point I want to thank each one of you that read and vote. It makes my day!
Spring 25
The Flower Dance festival was a disaster yesterday. Sam and Sebastian has caused a lot of trouble through out the years according to their parents, but since I have been in Pelican Town that was the first time they actually managed to stop a festival completely. I have my self witnessed a few incidents in the past, but now they have been bolder than usual. Lewis seems unaware that it was them, but for me it was obvious. First I noticed Lacryma, that she was staring at them nervously and then I saw everything. I will keep it to my self. I feel sorry for Sam, it was just at the beginning of the month that Lewis committed him to community service again because of skating on private properties. I understand the mayor's intentions but from the other hand if the town had a park for such activities it would have been a whole different situation. Can't really blame people for wanting to be active. As for Sebastian, he has always been following Sam sitting in the background. It is impressive that he dared to equally participate in this prank this time and if I see it as his practitioner that was a big step for him -maybe towards the wrong way, but still it showed courage and confidence, traits that Sebastian is struggling with. It must have felt good for him to feed his rebellious personality in such a way. Regardless that was a day to remember and maybe a warning that the younger generation needs a change. I know for a fact that some people in the town are forced against their will to participate in some of the traditional festivities.
Spring 26
Today I spent most of my day with Lacryma. She was my only patient for today as she had her annual check up. I am happy to note that the twisted ankle back in the winter was the last serious accident she had. She is in a very good form and has become extremely cautious about her diet and life style. When we went for lunch she mentioned that she is trying to get Sebastian into better habits and that this is the reason why she wants to try to have good habits herself. Well until she replaces the Friday night tequila contest with something healthier, she has a long road to be perfect. I shouldn't be so strict. The amount of junk food in my fridge is the proof that no one is perfect. I have been in contact with Patty from the police station in Zuzu. She has been promoted to detective and promised to keep an eye on Axel and his family. She couldn't say more but it seems that she is on a case about him. I assured Lacryma that if he will make a move we will know it sooner. I asked her to hand over the information she has removed from Joja's database, it is safer if she is doesn't have hold of it. Then Sam came and picked her up from the saloon. Void chickens have hatched and him together with Sebastian wanted to see them. I saw a hot air balloon advertisement at the newspaper today and I'm thinking seriously to call and find out more. There is no chance I can fly this thing alone but I'm thinking seriously of asking Maru to join me. My first thought to be honest was to ask Lacryma. But then I thought that I need a more scientific brain with me in case something goes wrong up there. With no offense, Lacryma is my best friend, but I would feel safer with Maru in a hot air balloon. Also I like Maru. Maybe it's about time to tell her. I've been meaning to ask her out but the fact that she is working for me it makes it complicated. However many times we are having dinner at the clinic, why not just take it outside for once? Lacryma would say to not care and follow my heart. Easier said than done. Also, if I judge from her example, I see the results of following her heart. I have warned her about Sebastian. She didn't want to listen to me. Now she is so baffled at times in regards their relationship. At least she has admitted that she has feelings about him. She asked me if I believe that Sebastian has feelings about her too. Hard to say. I definitely believe he cares about her, but people with social anxiety are unstable. That does not mean that the disorder effects their ability to fall in love. Sebastian has low levels of trust and that makes him often distant and unable to notice how much supportive she is to him. It will require a lot of effort to repair the line of communication between them because this is particularly challenging for the socially anxious, who may appear withdrawn behind their self protective communication style. Seeing him getting out of his comfort zone for her , could very well indicate that they share the same feelings. But is it love? Or is he taking advantage of her?
Summer 10
Maru had birthday today. I have been invited to a lovely dinner at her home in the mountain. Robin has made an extraordinary roast and we had cake for dessert. It was obvious that Maru's family is having most of their grocery from the farm. Everything was delicious. I had a very interesting conversation with Demetrius about his study on the local fruit bats population. Lacryma has agreed to allow him use a cave which is located at her farm to attract them. Of course. She is always happy to help. To my biggest surprise Sebastian joined us for his sister birthday. Last year he was upstairs with us only as long as it was required for him to finish his food. But today the family felt more bonded than usual and I was very happy to witness it. When we mentioned the farm, Sebastian was not able to stop talking about it and Lacryma with admiration. I was not aware that he has been spending so much time there. I knew that he helped Lacryma with internet connection at the start of the season, but according to his sayings he has been involved in many farming activities as well. Together with Sam of course some of the times, but that is no surprise. He was so excited to get into details about how he improved the sprinklers network on the fields, taking Spot to long walks when Lacryma was busy with orders, gathering honey and making caviar from the fishes in the ponds. After the internet installation often he would take his laptop and do his own work there. Now that the weather was warm, Lacryma has put out on the porch a small coffee table and a couple of chairs and he enjoyed to sit there and work while she was running around. The man could not literally shut up however I can now understand why he was looking a bit healthier and had some color on his cheeks since he has been spending a good amount of time outside. He was careful to not mention anything about the Junimos and he looked at me with a hint of conspiracy a couple of times. There, now I'm sharing secrets against my will with this man. Hilarious. Luckily, Maru put a stop to his verbal delirium when she suggested to take a look at the night sky with her telescope. It felt like a salvation as he didn't have any interest in that. I spent a few lovely hours with Maru on the terrace and shared my intention to invite her for a hot air balloon ride. She seemed thrilled about the idea. I was happy for me, it took a lot of courage to suggest this, considering that she knows about my height phobia. I was happy for Lacryma too, because tonight Sebastian let out a tiny bit of his cloaked heart and this at least shows me that he could only have good intentions towards her.
