Chapter 17

It was morning. I haven't gotten any sleep last night. I let out a big yawn and stopped in my tracks. 'Harry?' I knocked on his bedroom door. I didn't know where else to go. He was the only one who was in between killing me and keeping me alive, and I suppose I'd just have to count on that chance. 'Harry?' Again there was no answer. I crept inside and made a survey. Where was he?

'Looking for me?' I swivelled around and saw Harry standing there with a glass in his hand. He must've just woken up because he was still wearing whatever he wore to sleep last night. 'So that's where my favorite shirt went.' He stared at the shirt I wore.

'Why are you still drinking?' I eyed the golden liquid in his glass carefully. 'And put on a shirt.' I threw the nearest pillow I could grab at him. He had the gall to smirk, showing off his dimples. I'm still mad. We are not buddies! I turned my back against him and started to head for the door.

Harry's face turned serious though. 'You do must believe I had not known what was happening.' He said. 'The killing, everything. I don't know. I- I just blacked out at some point and I wake up not remembering a single thing. Please trust me. I'm not the bad guy here. Azelynne! Look at me.' He grabbed hold of my shoulders and spun me around to face him. 'I had no control over me. All this, the war, those thoughtless killings, your sister, they weren't my doing. I swear. Like I swear over Molly.'

'Your cat's dead.' I said flatly.

'Oh...then- WHAT?!!' Harry's face turned a bright shade of red. 'Molly? You killed her?! What the-'

'She attacked me!' I think it was the fact that he was yelling that made me yell too, just to drown out his voice. 'I was just trying to get back my sister! I know you have her! You can't lie to me! Don't you dare lie to me Harry! You give her back to me! Give her back! Give her back!'

It was such a ruckus. We were both yelling at the same time, trying to make our voice be heard by one another, or rather block out each other's voices. 'How many times do I have to tell you?! I didn't do this!!! I don't have your sister! Will you quit it? I don't have her whereabouts! I'm not holding her captive! Why in the world would I- Would you shut up and just hear me out?!' Harry shook me hard by my shoulders like a rag doll. 'LISTEN AZELYNNE!!!'

'No. You won't tell me what to do.' My voice sounded incredibly soft and timid now. I was a little shaken by his gesture. He was quite scary sometimes, and his voice was really loud. It was such an emotional roller coaster for me and I felt so overwhelmed. I sank to my knees and sobbed silently. I could almost feel myself going mental from all the shouting. Things that happened, it was too much in a few days. 'Vendellynne is the only family I've got left. I'd do anything for her right now, just to get her safe.'

I waited for a few minutes to calm myself down. Harry seemed to have understood that and kept quiet. 'Harry,' I finally said. 'Do you have anything to drink? That is not alcoholic?'

He handed me his glass of drink. I shot him a quizzical look and place the drink under my nose. It was apple juice. The design of the glass intrigued me. It might look like an ordinary glass on the outside, but in the middle of the glass was a cylindrical block of what seemed to be nitrogen gas in it. It kept the drink cool.

'Aze,' Harry sat down on the floor beside me so he could see eye to eye with me. 'Do you know why I didn't kill you off or let anyone else kill you?' I wished he never asked that. I tried to drink with louder slurps to drown his answer. I'm pretty sure I knew the answer and I seriously do not want to hear it. 'I lo- like you...'

Thank goodness he didn't really say the word.

Though somehow I felt mad, or rather furious. If there were ice in the apple juice, I might have choked to death. I scowled. 'You kept me alive for your own benefit?! Because you LIKE me???' I threw down the glass which shattered into glass shards. 'You really are a brat! You selfish bastard! If you had wanted to win over my affections, would you not have taken my feelings into account? You murdered my mother! What did you think? You "saved" my life and I would in turn fall for you? News flash, I hate you more! Harold, I'm not like other girls! So just stop trying! You're making things worse. The best you could do now is to give me back Vendellynne.'

'I do not have your sister.' Harry said between gritted teeth. 'Get it through your thick skull. Whatever. I'm just gonna leave. I need to go check on my father.'

'Oh visiting your father? So you can ask more advice on how to mistreat others? Sure great. As they always say, like father like son. Either he is worse than you, or equally bad. Neither of them sounds good.'

'Shut your mouth!' Harry's eyes were ablazed. 'You can insult me all you want, but don't you dare insult my father. You don't know who he is, you can't judge him.' For a moment there, I thought he would've slapped me across the face. But he didn't. 'You shouldn't leave this room.' He added before leaving the room.

'No!' I slammed against the door just as it closed. I heard a soft beep and I knew I was locked in. 'Jeez! Harry, you unlock the door this instance! Harry! Harry! Don't keep me in! What about my sister? Harry, don't!'
