Thirteen years later
Today is Embers eighteenth birthday. I can't believe she's already eighteen. I feel like I just gave birth to her.

Lysandra has decides to throw Ember a surprise birthday party and sends me outside to get Ember and bring her inside.

I walk outside and see her and Rowan training.

"How long have y'all been training for?" I ask them.

"Since dawn," Ember tells me.

"Don't you think that you need a break?" I ask her.

"Nope!" She tells me.

"If you say so and happy birthday," I tell her.

"Thanks mom," she says and goes back to training.

Rowan walks over to me and kisses the top of my head.

"She's gotten really good at controlling her powers," my mate tells me.

"I can tell," I say.

"Ember I think it's time for a break," Rowan says.

"But I don't need one," she says.

"It may feel like you don't need a break but you've been training since dawn and we don't need you to have a burn out like your mother did when she was learning how to use her powers," Rowan tells Ember.

I elbow him in the gut.

"Ugh fine but for an hour!" Ember says.

Me and Rowan both sigh.

"Ember you don't need to train all day especially since today is your birthday," I tell her.

"Ugh but I want to train," she complains.

Rowan chuckles.

"You can later. Just take a break for a few hours," he tells her.

She groans.

"Fiiiiiiine," she says and rolls her eyes.

We walk inside and everyone jumps out and yells surprise.

"I am not five years old anymore," Ember says and smiles a little.

"Believe me we know," Fenrys says; walking over.

When Ember was sixteen she found out about Fenrys being her mate and since then they've been together a lot.

Rowan has finally learned to except it. He does get a little over protective sometimes but he isn't pissed about it anymore.

Ember rolls her eyes and slaps his arm.

We all laugh.

Ember kisses Fenrys; happily.

Rowan exaggerates a cough. I slap him in the chest.

Ember looks at Rowan.

"Really?" She growls.

He shrugs.

"Quit it," I tell him.

"Anyways Ember how about you go get cleaned up and then we can get this party started," I tell her.

"Ok," she says and walks off.

I pull Rowan away from everyone.

"You need to let this overprotectiveness go!" I tell him.

"I have," he tells me.

"That cough that you did says otherwise," I tell him.

"She's my daughter. She's to young to be-" he starts but I cut him off.

"Rowan she is eighteen years old," I tell him.

"She's still to young!" He says.

I roll my eyes.

"Rowan when me and you became mates I was also eighteen!" I tell him.

"She is growing up and you need to let it go!" I continue.

He growls.

"You know I'm right," I say.

"When me and you became mates it was different," he tells me.

"How was it different?" I ask; challenging him.

He stands there in silence.

"I'm waiting," I say with an eyebrow raised.

He growls in defeat.

"Exactly you know I'm right," I tell him.

"Now let's go enjoy this birthday party for Ember and you're not going to say anything about her and Fenrys," I tell my mate as I walk back into the dining room.

A few hours later
The party was amazing and I'm happy for Ember and Fenrys. They both deserve each other and luckily Rowan layed off and let them enjoy this.

Our lives went from a living hell to this amazing life. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
