chapter 15

Mist's POV

When I got back to the squid base I was thrown into a different cell. The difference was that this one wasn't submerged but I still had Quinton opposite me so that was nice. "What happened to you're leg?" He asked looking at my back left leg "sky shot me" I explained. I went to change into my human form but I saw that the squid that put me in here took my headset and hung it on the wall in the hallway.

All of a sudden the door to my cell was opened, something small and gray and the door was slammed closed. I looked at what was thrown in and it was a small squid with golden eyes. The squid jumped on my head as if trying to hug me and shouted "Mist!" Now I was confused "do I know you" I said shaking the squid off me. When I looked at it, it looked hurt at what I just said. "I'm surf don't you remember me" she said

(Flashback)

I layed on the floor unable to stand after the attack from the bullys. Out of the corner of my eye I see a squid with golden eyes climb out of the near by lake and walk towards me. I growled at it since it was pray and I couldn't get to it. "I don't want to hurt you I want to help" she said "I don't want help from pray like you" I growled at it. "Please let me help you" "say if I did let you help me how would you do that?" I asked "like this" she said. Just as I was about to ask what she was about to do she came over to me and warped all of her tentacles around my injured leg. "Try to walk" she said. I got up and tried to walk and despite it hurting a lot I could just about walk. "Now if you go into the water and follow my directions I can help heal you're wound" she explained and I nodded in reply. "By the way my name is surf, yours?" She asked "Mist wolf" I replied before we went into the lake and swam through the underwater cave.

(End of flashback)

"I'm so sorry" I said to my old friend while giving her a hug "it's fine" she replied "wait you know this thing?" Quinton asked sounding shocked "yes and that thing is my friend" I growled "by the was surf do you know why the out her squids keep calling me a traitor?" I asked surf "well you kind of used to train with us making you one of the team and since you killed a squid that made you a traitor" she explained. "I guess I started fighting for the wrong team, no offense surf" I said "to be honest I agree with you, the reason I'm actually in here is because I can't walk like the others can and also because of my eyes so I try to leave but they won't let me" she explained "wait why did they put you in here because of you're eyes?" I asked "having golden eyes is a sign of a traitor for squids but that means you can trust squids like me" she explained to me.

"So how can we get out of here?" I asked "I can see the keys to our cells near you're door but they are to high up for you guys to reach and I'm to far away" Quinton pointed out "that's right I saw them when I was put in here and I have a plan to get them, Mist get to the door and stand on you're hind legs as high as you can" surf explained. I nodded and did as she said ignoring the pain in my leg. I felt surf climb up my back and onto my muzzle, wrapping her tentacles around it so she wouldn't fall and she grabbed the keys. I lowered my head so she could reach the lock and she opened the door. We walked over to Quinton's cell and opened his door. He walked out, grabbed my headset and gave it to me. "Thanks" I said "no problem" he replied. Surf climbed off my head and onto my back and wrapped her tentacles around me "surf can you hold onto my headset just in case I lose it?" I asked and she nodded and grabbed it and held it tight. "Come on lets go" I said and we ran to safety.
