"We're about to do some movie shit" Edric says with a smirk, he walks over to the balcony and ties off the sheets to one of the bars on the balcony and then gives it a tug to make sure it's sturdy
"Edric, this is a terrible idea!" I whisper yell
"Well we don't have much of a choice now do we!" Edric whisper yells back
"Both of you! Shut up! Now Edric, this is a terrible plan, but Amity, it's the only plan we have so we don't have a choice, now go" Emira whisper yells
I nod slowly, I walk over to the makeshift rope and throw my bag of clothes over but keep my other bag with more fragile stuff on my back, I hop the fence on my balcony and start climbing down the rope when my phone buzzes
I get to the bottom and check it quickly, it's Luz saying she's here "Guys! Get down here quick! Luz is here!" I whisper yell to the twins
Emira quickly throws her bags over and slides down the rope and Edric does the same after
We all start running to the gate and get to Luzs car
We all get in the car, me in the shotgun and the twins in the back
"Go!" I yells as soon as the doors are closed
Luz floors it and we all drive away
"Mind telling me what's going on? Amity gave me some cliffnotes on the phone but other than that I'm clueless" Luz asked

"Well, our parents... aren't the best... being the nicest way to put it, and when they get drunk they're even worse... and sometimes..." Edric pulls up one of his sleeves revealing a huge scar going down his right forearm "...they go too far"
"Jesus... how could any parent do that to their child!?" Luz asked, starting to get angry
"Well they don't see us as their children, they see us as heirs to their company, a plan B, nothing more" Emira says sadly
"Why haven't any of you called the police?" Luz asked
"We've tried but our parents always end up bribing the cops off and they mark it as a prank call so nothing comes of it, and either way we don't have any proof of it so it wouldn't even matter..." I say with my head down

"Of course it would matter! You matter! All three of you matter to someone in this world, whether you know it or not, somebody cares about you." Luz says, trying to motivate us
"Thanks Luz..." I say not really believing her.
"I can tell you don't believe me Amity, so that's why I'm going to prove it to you right now. I care about you Amity, I know we only met a few days ago but I feel alot closer to you than I do anyone else" Luz says
My eyes open wider and I blush, I then look over at Luz and I can swear I see her blushing too
"A-are you blushing?" I question
She seems to tense up "N-NO, SHUT UP"
"Really because it seems like you're blushing to me" I say smirking
Luz sighs "I hate you..."

"Well we're here, you guys can stay for a bit but for now I gotta text Eda that you guys'll be here when she gets back tomorrow" Luz says
"Don't worry about Emira and I, we already have somewhere planned, we have enough in savings to get a small apartment somewhere out of town" Edric says "we should be able to get out of here soon"
"Okay well that leaves Amity, how long do you think you'll be staying Amity?" Luz asks me
"I have no idea, I think I have like $12,000 in savings? But I don't think thats enough to keep and apartment for long enough without a roommate and I turn 18 in like 4 days and I don't think that's enough time to find one." I answer
"What about me?" Luz asked suddenly
"What? No I couldn't force you to do that just so I could escape my parents" I say
"Actually I've been trying to move out for some time now and you wouldn't be forcing me to do anything." Luz counters
"I- um- okay then, guess we're gonna be roommates!" I say happily
This chapter felt kind of rushed because I have school tomorrow and I know I won't be able to post as often so I'm sorry if it's not very good, I'll probably go back and make some edits after reading it to make it a bit better but idk
