Phil was on the patio in a courtyard outside the hospital when he finally collapsed. He couldn't cry
and he he couldn't make himself cry because it didn't feel real. He'd just seen Dan, what? Two days before? The thought hit him in the chest hard. Two days before. Why had he gotten no other calls?
Why had it been two days? Where were Dan's parent? Why had it been two days? Phil began to finally cry.
"Well, I didn't expect this reaction." Phil looked up, blurry eyes barely registering Adrian hovering over him."I- what?"
"Aren't you at least going to come meet him properly?"
Phil didn't respond, getting up slowly, feeling like he was going to fall down again. "What?"
"Phil, he's awake."
And Phil was running again.
