By 567 A.D., a Far Eastern king named John the I of Palawan united with the tribes of Palawan and modern-day Mindoro to form the the Kingdom of Palawan and Mindoro, with the Far Eastern Church being the official state religion, but it does tolerates other languages and religions like Hinduism and folk religion. This contributes to its prosperity in trade, especially with India. John the I also contributed the commission of one of the earliest writing systems of the Filipino language prior to Baybayin and modern-day Filipino. This was based on the modified Greek alphabet. The king also advocated for children's education, both boys and girls, based on his interpretation of the Bible concerning the education of children. This early kingdom lasted until the 700s, when the last king passed away of an illness and the kingdom was eventually divided into 3 by his children.
