By the time I got settled in later that night, the enchantment of the evening had faded. The thirty-minute drive home had allowed me some time to come back to reality; No more than an hour after watching such talented skaters impress and amaze, I was lying drearily on my bed, anticipating a stressful and wearisome tomorrow.

The issue with going to fun events like the Grand Prix was that they didn't make the rest of my life any easier. I'd enjoyed the event, but as soon as the dawn of the next day, I was back to my workaholic life. Due to the upcoming competition, my parents started working me harder than ever in preparation. I had a sneaking suspicion that they might've bought the tickets as a little bribe for my effort.

My parents weren't the only ones who were being annoyingly persistent; Yuri, to whom I'd stupidly given my number, texted me next to nonstop. I'd never realized just how much of an effort it took to stay healthy until I had someone blowing up my phone about it all the time. I ended up calculating that, from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed at night, Yuri was having me drink around seventy-two ounces of water, give or take. As for food, he suggested I eat five small meals per day instead of the usual three. This information all could've been condensed into one text; With reminders, it should've averaged at about ten texts per day.

Yuri averaged around a hundred texts per day.

Hey. Drink water.

Confirm that you got this.

Confirm that you got this.

I'm not asking again.

You'd better remember what I told you before, I'm not going to bother teaching you if you won't even listen to what I say.

Hey

Hey

Hey

"Jesus Christ, Yuri, what is your problem?" I muttered under my breath, opening the conversation frustratedly.

I was in practice just now omg

What is wrong with u

Quit blowing up my phone!

Ohhhh

My bad

Well then drink two bottles instead of one since you were working out

And THIS time get back to me

"Ugh..."

Painstakingly hoisting myself from my bed, I threw my phone down and trudged down the hall to the kitchen. I figured I might as well try to follow his instructions; I wasn't about to just lie to him and then not bother. It really was tough, though. I was starting to get sick of drinking so much water all the time. Not only was it annoying and inconvenient, but it ended up wasting my time because of how often I had to drop everything to use the bathroom. Being dehydrated would be so much easier...

After chugging my water like a responsible individual, I found myself staring blankly at the fridge. One thing I would have to lie to Yuri about was food. He'd pestered me about that almost as much as with the water, but in that case, I really couldn't do much to fix my bad habits. This was mainly due to our fridge; Thanks to my parents' irresponsibility, it remained empty of anything healthy for most of the time. They would buy fruit once in a blue moon, and vegetables had to be cooked. There was no way I was going to cook for five meals every day, which meant that any plant products we had were off the table.

Almonds were probably the healthiest food we had available, so for now they would just have to be enough.
