jonathan looked at himself in the mirror one last time. he wasn't dressed up persay but he definitely wouldn't wear these clothes on a normal day. it was a blue long sleeved shirt with stripes tucked into black pants. it wasn't a fancy fancy restaurant that him and steve were going to but it still was a well dressed one. jonathan decided that was enough mirror looking and that it was time to go so he headed to the front door.

joyce grew a joyful face once her oldest son walked into the living room where she was sitting. "aw you look so handsome!" joyce cooed as she hugged jonathan. "you're all grown up, going on dates, falling in love!" joyce looked euphoric. all she ever wanted for her sons was for them to be happy. "you can let go now mom!" jonathan laughed.

suddenly the doorbell rung and will went to get it. "hi steve!" will excitedly said. the older smiled as the younger boy hugged him. "hey will," steve said as will let go. "hi joyce, hey jonathan!" steve said waving at the two.

joyce waved enthusiastically back saying, "it's good to see you steve!" jonathan walked over to the older giving him a hug. "just a hug? kiss already!" will complained making joyce snort but then quickly say, "will!" jonathan rolled his eyes. "i think we should go now," the younger looked to the older whom nodded.

jonathan and steve exchanged their goodbyes with the two byers and walked out of the home. "you look breathtaking," steve told the younger softly in his ear. "oh yeah? you don't look half bad yourself harrington." jonathan told steve who gave a toothy smile and then leaned in and gave the younger a kiss on the lips.

"we should go," jonathan said regretfully as he pulled away from kiss that had almost become a make out session right in front of his house. "i guess," steve huffed but then smiled again, walking over to the passenger door and opening it saying, "here you are sir." jonathan laughed and sat down, thanking the older with a smile.

they drove to the restaurant while asking each other how each other's days were and how both dreaded school that would be in session in just a couple of days.

steve and jonathan held hands as they walked into the restaurant and where their seats were. though they weren't officially a couple yet they acted like one; holding hands when they could, giving each other kisses, and talked about the future like they were a couple. little did jonathan know; not being a couple was about to change soon enough.

they ordered their drinks and meals and started to talk. "will and my mom are absolutely driving me crazy with all the questions about you," jonathan confessed to steve with a laugh but truth was he wasn't exactly not keen on not answering questions about steve. he loved talking about the older boy. "oh yeah? did you tell them about how i'm such a great kisser?" steve asked teasingly and jonathan laughed saying, "of course!"

steve tapped his foot nervously but then drew in a big breath and looked at jonathan's bright smile and what steve could only describe as angel eyes. it was gonna happen. he'd finally ask the younger to be his boyfriend.

"jonathan these past couple of days have been amazing just getting to know you more as not just a friend but a possibility of something more so if you don't mind i'd like us to become the possibility. what i'm asking do you want to be my boyfriend?" steve rambled. for a moment jonathan felt starstruck, it was like the first time the older kissed him all over again.

putting one of his hands in steve's hand, he nodded with huge smile saying, "yes steve, i'd love to be your boyfriend." steve smiled a big a toothy grin and kissed jonathan's hand, not being able to kiss his lips due to the big table being in the way.

"i'm so glad you said yes, i was so nervous," steve chuckled making jonathan giggle and say; "and i'm glad you asked me, i thought i'd have to!"

the two chatted up a storm all dinner long, the new couple held hands the whole time and even when they were to leave the restaurant, they still held hands. they didn't care who saw, they were young and in love; nothing could change that.

"thank you for dinner, i loved it," jonathan thanked the older who smiled saying, "no problem but you made the dinner special," with a wink. jonathan giggled. he had been doing that a lot lately. little did he know, he'd be doing that a lot more if he were to move to california and start smoking a little something.

the two drove back to the byers in comfortable silence as they held hands. once they had got there jonathan sighed. "i'll miss you," he said softly to steve who said, "i'll miss you too, once i get home i'll text you." the two leaned in for a long kiss that started into a make out session.

by the time they pulled apart both were breathing heavily. "we better stop before will looks out the window and is either scarred for life or take pictures and send it to the kids dumb groupchat," jonathan reasoned with a laugh. steve pouted but nodded.

"bye steve," jonathan bid his goodbye, giving his boyfriend a kiss on his cheek. steve grinned, "bye jon, miss you already!" with a roll of his eyes and a quick chuckle, jonathan left the older in his car and went over to his house.

when jonathan walked inside to see both joyce and will looking at him in the doorway with smiles. "don't you guys ever have anything else to do besides being invested in my love life?" he asked but the two ignored the comment both saying; "so?" in unison. "so me and steve are dating," jonathan answered honestly. the two erupted in congratulations for him.

after that, the byers spent the rest of the night watching a movie together and talking about theirselves. they didn't get these moments that much anymore but they found themselves cherishing it when they did happen.

steve went home and told dustin all about the date with jonathan. dustin was absolutely ecstatic for the older whom he thought was like a older brother to him. the two were now together officially together, it was about time wasn't it?
