jonathan quickly bid his brother and mother a goodbye and scrambled out of the house where steve was waiting by the porch steps. in the close distance he could see steve's car and robin was in the back though she reached to the front seat where she was honking the horn.

"hey handsome," steve greeted making jonathan laugh. "what? you are," he shrugged making the younger widely grin and give the older a peck on the lips.

"let's go lovers!" nancy yelled out the back cat window. "why are they so impatient?" jonathan asked and steve shrugged though he could spot knowing eyes looking at the older. the two boys made their way to steve's car where robin let out a over dramatic sigh.

"what's with the rush?" jonathan inquired with a huff. "well we have dinner reservations at 5:30, this dingus thought we meant to pick everyone up at 5:30," robin replied, pointing to the older who was starting the car hurriedly. "you idiot!" jonathan rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help but laugh.

they started to drive. "drive any slower and i think we'll break a world record for slowest driver," robin complained. nancy sighed saying; "if you had let me drive we'd be halfway there by now." steve shrugged. "halfway there but on the side of the road crashed, you don't even have your full license yet!" he defended and nancy rolled her eyes.

the conversation and complaints about why steve was such a slow and careful driver continued until they got to the restaurant where all four of them quickly rushed inside.

"you're real lucky they didn't give away our reservation," robin snorted, looking at steve. the older rolled his eyes. "so as long as we made it," nancy reasoned and jonathan nodded in agreement.

they were seated at a table by a window. jonathan and steve sat across from each other with robin being seated next to the latter and nancy sitting beside jonathan.

"you come here often?" steve asked, winking at jonathan. the younger cringed. "who even says that anymore ew," jonathan laughed. "what do you see in him again?" robin chimed in. this made both nancy and jonathan giggle but made steve make a fake offended face. "is this offend steve harrington day?" he asked and they all collectively nodded.

they continued conversation, occasionally bringing up things that could offend steve, but for the most part they decided to be kind. key word being "for the most part" of course.

"it's so weird saying steve without saying jonathan right after. it's like it's illegal," nancy realized with a giggle. robin nodded, "you guys come in a pair at this point." the two lovers shrugged at that statement. "we don't spend that much time together!" jonathan defended though he didn't mind coming in a pair with his boyfriend. "i bet your guys camera rolls says otherwise," nancy retorted, laughing.

that was true, their camera rolls did say otherwise. recently, every time they spent together they'd have to take a picture before they bid their goodbyes.

"it's for memories! you guys should try," steve suggested. "wouldn't be a half bad idea," nancy stated, matter of factly. robin nodded. "we should take a picture all together," jonathan then suggested. "yeah!" nancy cheered and pulled out her phone.

steve reached for jonathan's hand in hopes it would get in the shot. they squeezed together the best they could while sitting so they could all fit in and nancy quickly snapped a few photos and sent it to the group chat they had together. "perfect," nancy said smiling.

their dinner date was done but none of them were ready to part-ways just yet. "i have an idea where we should go," nancy started. the three stayed silent, looking at her curiously. "bowling!" she exclaimed and steve was immediately on board.

"i've never gone," jonathan confessed. "me too," robin added. steve grew a dramatic face. "never? not at all?" he inquired, surprised. "i'm poor steve, bowling is expensive and for what, besides i don't have many friends to go with," jonathan let out a dry laugh. "me also!" robin chimed in, laughing dryly as well.

nancy nodded in understanding. "it's expensive but fun, trust me, so can we go?" nancy pleaded. "sure," jonathan shrugged. steve whoo'd quietly as robin nodded as well.

so they were quickly on their way to a bowling alley. "are the bowling balls heavy?" robin asked curiously. "well they aren't no softballs," steve snorted. "god, i'm way to uncoordinated for this," she grumbled.

"is there anything you can do that doesn't make your balance go uneasy without involving a sitting activity?" jonathan looked back at her with one eyebrow up. they all broke out in laughter; it was a surprising comment from the usual quiet boy but they all knew robin couldn't even answer that.

they quickly got to the bowling alley where they rented some shoes and got a bowling lane. "how does this even work? this scoring is so confusing," jonathan asked, genuinely confused. steve shrugged. if he was being honest; he was pretty shit at bowling and had never actually won a game before, he never bothered to pay attention to the scoring, not alone care enough to learn about it.

nancy rolled her eyes. "it's simply, really," she assured. the three others weren't convinced.
nancy got to go first, she knocked all the pins but one on the first try and the second try she knocked down the last standing. steve had managed to knock half down but the ball went in the gutter on the second try. robin completely threw both her shots, she claimed that it was being homophobic for being so heavy and rolling in the gutter. jonathan had managed to get a strike first try.

"beginners luck," steve huffed. "please give me some of that please," robin pleaded with a laugh. "you'll knock a pin down in time," nancy assured her girlfriend, patting the girl on the back. "you're too kind," robin giggled and gave nancy a quick peck on the lips.

nancy had been the only good one there. she won by a long shot with steve and jonathan tying in points and robin, well she tried.

"that was an experience," jonathan commented walking out of the bowling place. "a good one?" steve inquired. jonathan stayed quiet making the older laugh.

robin huffed and stayed; "it sure was a experience! a boring one at that." nancy giggled at her girlfriend. "you got a few pins down, i'm proud."

"can i sleep at your place tonight?" steve asked softly as they walked to the car with steve hugging jonathan from behind. "yeah sure, my mom already asked me wondering if you'd be staying over tonight," he giggled.

steve dropped off nancy and robin at the wheelers house and then started driving to the byers.

"thank goodness i don't have to work tomorrow, i'm a few days into this job and i'm sick of working," steve groaned. jonathan rolled his eyes with a dry laugh. "get use to it steveie, it's called life," jonathan commented.

once they got to the byers they sat in the car for a while. the lovers held hands and jonathan leaned his head on the olders shoulder comfortably. jonathan sure was loving this summer, he didn't want it to end for nothing.
