june 28th, 9:00
jonathan had arrived earlier, finding that sattler quarry was an excellent place for taking pictures. he hadn't managed to find courage to come to quarry ever since wills fake body had been found there.
9:00 on the dot was when jonathan heard a car pull up near the quarry. he turned to see steve getting out of his car. "hey jon!" steve greeted with a smile, jogging over to where the younger stood with his camera in hand.
"hi steve," jonathan grinned and opened his arms for a hug. steve obliged, wrapping him in a warm hug and kissing his lovers forehead. "i missed you," jonathan murmured as they pulled apart from the hug.
steve grinned. "taking photos?" he questioned. jonathan nodded. "good thing the model has arrived!" he exclaimed at the younger who snorted. "yeah good thing," he replied sarcastically. the two laughed, grinning at each other.
"you can see such a pretty sunset from here," steve murmured, looking at the setting sun you could easily see from the quarry. "let's sit," steve took jonathan's hand and went close to the edge. "you're crazy," jonathan muttered as steve sat with his feet dangling below the quarry.
"crazy hot," steve replied with a smirk as he looked back at the younger. jonathan snorted; "just crazy." he sat beside steve at first but moved back a bit. the quarry drop was crazy scary.
steve turned to jonathan with admiring eyes. the younger had to get a picture. picking up the camera that dangled around his neck, he snapped a quick photo. the sun setting made steve's already good-looking skin look even better.
"how was work today?" steve asked. jonathan shrugged saying; "boring, spent most of it in the darkroom developing photos. oh and listening to nancy going off about our misogynistic coworkers, man i'd like to square them right in their faces." steve laughed dryly. "wouldn't want to be them, i know from first hand your punches hurt."
this made both the boys break out into laughter. "sorry about that," jonathan apologized, still laughing. "don't apologize, i deserved it!"
they continued to talk; complaining about their jobs, talking about their days, and planning things they should do this summer.
by then the sun had set, releasing darkness among the town of hawkins though tonight in particular, the stars would shine brightly in the night sky.
steve had moved away from the edge, laying down on the ground beside jonathan. they looked at the shining sky while their hands intertwined.
"you ever think about the future?" steve murmured. jonathan didn't respond for a minute, he didn't like to think about the future because he always thought bad thoughts about it but he did it a lot anyway. "yeah . . . yeah i do."
steve and jonathan both turned their heads to look at each other. "do you think we'll still be together when we're older?" steve questioned. jonathan gulped. "i really hope," he murmured. "me too," steve spoke softly, giving the younger a smile.
"have you planned the future?" jonathan asked suddenly. steve couldn't help but nod. "all the time, you're the first person in it," he confessed to the younger who grinned. "well don't leave me on a cliffhanger harrington."
so steve did.
"well i'd like to be a model maybe, but more importantly i'd like to be with you, married maybe," steve started. jonathan giggled. "harrington-byers?" he asked, steve started to laugh and nod. "has a nice ring to it doesn't it?" without waiting for a reply, steve went on.
"eventually i want kids if that's a surprise, i want a chance to be a better parent then my parents ever were, that's about it though. the american dream i guess. marriage, kids, and a stable home," steve answered honestly. jonathan nodded.
steve raised a eyebrow. "what about you byers?" he asked and jonathan only blinked at the older for a moment. what did he want in the future?
"being a photographer would be nice and i think being a harrington-byers sounds quite nice," jonathan answered truthfully. steve smiled, sitting up. the younger did too.
the two shared the same unblinking gaze for a moment until they grew their faces closer and closer until their lips touched. jonathan put his hand on the olders cheek as they kissed passionately. it wasn't long before steve slowly pushed jonathan downwards, not breaking the kiss. the younger put his arms around the olders neck.
they pulled away from each other just to get a few breaths of fresh air. steve grinned widely and started to softly kiss jonathan's neck until his kisses became gradually rougher until steve started to slowly and lovingly bite down on the soft skin.
jonathan snorted and tapped steve's shoulder. "i am not wearing a turtleneck in the middle of summer and i'm most definitely not going to nancy for makeup," he remarked. steve shrugged. "let the people see, let them know—," steve started with a grin. "not a chance stevie," jonathan laughed.
"i'm tired and it's like 10:30 or something, i think it's best we go home," jonathan said sadly as he sat up. "i guess you're right, one more kiss?" steve asked. "one more," jonathan murmured and pulled steve in for long loving kiss on the lips.
"i love you jon!" steve exclaimed as he walked to his car. "love you too steve, drive safely!" jonathan exclaimed back, walking to his car as well.
jonathan was glad him and steve had talked about the future. it gave him even more conformation that steve truly did love him and even wanted to eventually marry him. him! jonathan byers was ecstatic to say the least.
the same could definitely be said for steve harrington as he did a celebratory dance as he sat in his car.
man were the two so in love with each other.
