Chapter 3 - Pandemonium

"Okay." Alec said firmly, but his eyes were smiling. He was glad to be accepted without reservations.

"You have a car here?"

"I have a motorbike"

"That's OK too"

"Now we're going to go to the mayor, you're coming with me, and you're going to be quiet there. We'll go with my car."

When they got to Magnus' car, Alec's jaw dropped.

"This on a police salary?" He pointed to the Tesla.

"Definitely not. I have a small bar."

"Then why are you working as a detective?"

"For me, this is life. I'm a cop, not a bar owner. Okay, bar owner, I don't like working there. I just like to have fun there. Raphael does everything. If I didn't have him, I don't know what I'd do."

"I can understand you. This job is everything to me. I don't want to take over my mother's business. I'm a cop to the core."

They got to Wongs' house.

"Magnus, you're finally here. Liza has disappeared, I haven't heard from her for 2 days. Come in."

"I came home from Bali because of you. Do you know she might be with her friends? If you have not seen her for 2 days, we cannot officially declare her as a missing person."

"I know, Mags, but I've been getting some threats lately. I've found out things that are hurting a lot of people's business interests. That's what worries me."

"Why didn't you tell me? At least to me, even if not officially. You know I have contacts in many places."

"Mags, you're like a son to me, I didn't want to get you involved. I didn't want to get anybody involved."

"I understand, but now you're going to tell us everything, otherwise we can't help you."

"All right, but please keep it confidential. Mags, can I trust....?" Wong poked his head towards Alec.

"Seriously, nobody minds, I'm here?"

"No problem, Uncle Michael. This is my partner Alexander. You can trust him."

"Do you have a partner? What have you done to make Ragnor so angry?"

Alec rolled his eyes. Magnus was beginning to feel seriously sorry for the poor boy.

"Nothing like that, Uncle Michael. I trust him, and I chose him to be my partner willingly." Magnus said, and Alec was truly grateful to him for that statement.

"OK, So I found suspicious payments at the town hall. I started looking into it. About six months ago. These payments are large sums of money for work that wasn't even done. I think the head of the finance department, Valentine Morgenstern, is involved in some illegal business. And then the threats started to come in to tell me to stop what I was doing because I'd regret it. I didn't take it seriously, and nothing happened for weeks. Until now. "

"Okay, that sounds really serious. Have you had any sign since Liza disappeared?

"No. Nothing."

"Do you know where she was last?"

"Yeah, I do. She was supposed to be partying at Pandemonium."

"Well, we'll go there, Raphael might have seen something."

"Mags, please find her, she's all I have left since Ethel died."

"Uncle Michel, we'll do our best. But please, if you have any information, let us know immediately. Okay?
