"What now?" asked Magnus.
"Honestly, I have no idea. I'm going back to Los Angeles in ten months." said Alec, and with that sentence they were both hit in the face by the harsh reality.
But they didn't have much time to think about it now, because the week was going to be busy. They agreed to just go with the flow. Ragnor told Magnus he could go back to work. Alec got permission to work out again. Dr. Loss checked him again and said he could return to work in a week.
Alec was at home finishing the final touches to his apartment. Everything was unpacked, everything had a place. It finally looked like home, it finally felt like home. This was helped by his decision not to go back to LA and stay in New York and get on his own feet. His decision was unshakable. Whether it works with Magnus or not. But he hadn't had time to discuss it with him yet, because Magnus had a lot of paperwork to catch up on.
Alec ran in the park in the mornings and worked out at a nearby gym during the day. He felt better and better as he began to regain his previous strength. That day, after training he went home to freshen up. He sent a text to Magnus.
"Don't have dinner, I'll be at your apartment at 6pm."
"Ok, honey, I can't wait." replied Magnus, who was still at the police station, sitting at his desk, grinning from ear to ear.
"Magnus, I haven't seen you grinning like that in years. Wait, I know what a grin is. You're dating again." Ragnor said as he entered Magnus' office.
Magnus looked at him and grinned wider. "Yup" was all he said, and waved Ragnor to close the door and sit down.
"Yup...?? Details man!!!"
Magnus looked up from behind the mass of paper in front of him.
"Ragnor, I've been dating again for less than a week, but nothing can be kept secret from you? Okay, I'll tell you if you tell me what's going on between you and Dr. Loss. You can't fool me. I saw the little touches and the dropped words, and Dr. Loss said her heart was taken, and then you two flirted like teenagers.I don't even have to be a detective to see that there's something between you."
"Okay, you win. We've been together for 3 months. She's smart, beautiful and funny. Remember when I cut my finger so badly while cooking that I had to have stitches? She stitched my finger and stole my heart. Your turn."
"I am happy for you. You two are a good match. umm...my situation is a bit more complicated... Alexander..."
"Nooo."
"Yeees. Deal with it, and I'll stay his partner. 10 months of happiness. I deserve that. I will not give up on this or we both quit."
"You know what? I wasn't even here, and I don't know anything."
"I love you, Ragnor." Magnus shouted to the closing door.
Alec rang the doorbell at Magnus' loft at 6pm. He was holding 2 helmets, wearing black leather pants and a leather jacket. Magnus let him in and blew a light kiss on his lips. They had only been dating for a week. They didn't rush into things, they didn't do more than kissing, though Magnus could barely keep himself from pinning Alec to the wall and tearing his clothes off right then and there. But somehow he felt Alec was so vulnerable, he didn't want to ruin everything with his impatience. They drove for 20 minutes before arriving at the restaurant. Alec opened the door for Magnus and let him in.
"What a gentleman my boyfriend is." Magnus said as they entered the restaurant.
"Boyfriend... No one has said that to me in years." murmured Alec
