"What the hell? Shit! What's going on?" Magnus looked after the car that Alec was driving away in.
Everyone stood there frozen. The forensics team started packing up. Ragnor yelled at them.
"What the hell are you doing? Don't stop working. They're gone. Collect any remaining evidence you can find that they left behind. I want you to collect every last speck of dust."
"But didn't they tell us to get out?" asked one of the CSIs.
"My dear boy. If a little shitty FBI agent tells you to jump in the deep well, will you do it? Of course not. No official notification has been received. I heard NOTHING from that piece of shit. And neither did you. So from now on, nobody sleeps, and we'll work this case 24/7 as long as we can to get this boy out of FBI custody. Victor, you're coming with us." Ragnor gave the order.
"Ragnor, thank you for trusting him. He didn't do anything. Damn it! The booklet. Alec has my notes." Robert said desperately.
"Your son is smart, Robert. He gave it to me before they took him away." said Magnus, as he took the booklet from his pocket.
The CSIs collected all the evidence they could find from the crime scene and the rooftop. Then everyone went to the NYPD.
Meanwhile, at the FBI...
Alec was taken to an interrogation room. His hands were handcuffed to a cold metal table and he was left alone for hours. He knew they wanted to break him. He was exhausted, scared and didn't understand it all. He tried to calm himself. He tried to rewind the events in his memory, but everything happened so fast. He couldn't understand how his bow ended up on the roof. He didn't understand why anyone would want to frame him. One thing he knew was that he wasn't guilty, and he could only hope that Magnus, his father and the others at the NYPD didn't believe these false allegations. He tried to gather himself. He tried to concentrate. At the moment, he had only himself to count on. He'd heard that Victor was due to appear for an interrogation in the morning. His mind was racing back and forth. He was gasping for air. He began to feel a slight panic. He knew he had to calm down somehow, because if an agent came in to interrogate him, he would have to respond in a focused and thoughtful way. Then he began to control his breathing. He took a few deep breaths and felt his head begin to clear. He closed his eyes and focused on his breathing. He tried to clear all thoughts from his mind. It took him a long time to finally calm down and clear his mind. He was still alone. He sat handcuffed to the cold table for hours. Then two agents came in.
"Agents Smith and Richter," they told him in a harsh tone.
Agent Richter pulled out the chair opposite him, turned it around, spread his legs and sat down. Agent Smith was standing behind Alec so that he could just see his silhouette out of the corner of his eye, but he couldn't see what he was doing. It was frustrating. The agent sitting opposite him took out a piece of paper and threw a pen.
"What's this?" asked Alec.
"Your statement of confession." said the agent.
"There's no way I'm signing this."
"Here's the deal. If you sign, we can make sure you don't end up in jail with people who would surely tear you apart if they knew you were a cop," the agent said.
"Are you trying to blackmail me? I'm not gonna sign it. I AM INNOCENT!! I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER" Alec raised his voice, and when he finished, he knew he shouldn't have. He needed to keep calm, not let his emotions get in control. He knew he had only himself to count on.
"I want to help you, son. There is so much evidence against you that you don't even need a trial to be found guilty and rot in prison for the rest of your life. And you can be sure that if you do go to prison, your life probably won't be long and your suffering will end soon. You know, prisoners don't like cops. For some reason, cops in jail always die quickly." the agent said with a devious smile at the corner of his lips.
"Look, I'll repeat it again. I didn't do it. Anyone could have put my bow there. Do you have any other evidence at all?" asked Alec, trying to look calm.
"Then let's begin. Where were you when the first murder happened?"
"At home, then I went to a bar."
"A bar? In the bar whose owner was the victim? " the agent looked up at him with a grin.
"NO. I've never been in the victim's bar before." said Alec, trying to keep his temper.
"Can anyone verify that?"
"I was at home alone. In the bar they can prove I was there. It's Pandemonium."
"Where were you when the second murder happened?"
"I went to a Thai restaurant for dinner." Alec said wearily, and by then he clearly knew he was in trouble.
"Which, by the way, is two blocks from the crime scene...."
"Look, I know this doesn't sound good, but I'll say it again. I am not the serial killer. I don't even know how my bow got there. Someone could have stolen it. Look, someone is controlling events from behind the scenes to make me look guilty. But damn it, I didn't do it!" Alec slammed his cuffed fists on the table. The cold metal clattered against the cold metal. He felt completely lost. He was alone and had no idea if Magnus, his father and Ragnor would believe these allegations. He could only hope they are not.
Agent Richter looked at him with a mocking smile for a moment, then began to speak.
"Let's see, what's the real reason you're in New York? Why were you suspended in Los Angeles? Because you brutally beat up a victim. You destroyed his car. The murders started when you showed up in Los Angeles. And when and where did they continue? When you came to New York. That's not a coincidence. Is that proof enough?"
"Think man! When the first murder happened I was 17 years old, in high school. How could it have been me?"
"And you were an archery champion...and gay...who kills his own kind. God damn it, speak. Admit it was you. You faggot" The agent pulled the chair out from under him and slammed it against the wall. The other agent grabbed Alec from behind and held him by the hair while Agent Richter punched him repeatedly in the ribs. All he could do was tense his abs to make it hurt less. Alec looked up at the camera in the corner of the interrogation room and saw that the cable was hanging unplugged from the wall. The camera didn't record anything. That's when he started to panic.
"I want a lawyer." hissed Alec between his teeth.
"Calm down, you'll get it. ...sometime later..."
Then Alec felt a big hit on the back of his head and fell unconscious on the table.
