"jay hyung! why did you post that? you know the number of people staring at me today was crazy. i thought i did something wrong until i opened my Instagram to see my followers blow up and an insane number of people mentioning me under your comment section," sunoo sighed.
this is why i keep comments restricted.
jay chuckled, throwing a bag of popcorn to sunoo as he continued to prepare dinner for them while sunoo plopped down on their couch, tired after the exhausting amount of questions that had been directed at him nearing the later half of the day.
"how can people be so relentless? the number of people who thought we were married was extraordinary. key word: married." sunoo rubbed his head trying to relieve the migraine from his personal bubble being violated in more than a hundred ways within the span of an hour.
there goes his chances of being under the radar until he graduates.
"should we go get a ring and officiate it?"
sunoo chucked a pillow at jay, even suggesting such a ridiculous idea.
"you've been on campus for less than two days and you're already on the unofficial university page with three posts dedicated to you."
"what do you mean?"
jay removed his apron and jumped on the couch beside sunoo.
"you got into a fight on your first day, that too with an upperclassman. then, you got the park sunghoon campus prince who never takes a foot out of the faculty of science to personally pay you a visit. lastly, you got associated with yours truly, the underclassmen hot guy," jay winked.
sunoo grabbed jay's phone out of the guy's hand and scrolled through the instagram page that's capitalising off of his endeavours.
"who recorded all of this? i should have just moved to the states with your mum when i had the chance," sunoo muttered under his breath annoyed.
"yah you wouldn't be able to survive without me," jay ruffled sunoo's hair before walking back to check on his ribeye steak.
sunoo rolled his eyes though both of them knew that sunoo would have absolutely destroyed himself without jay.
sunoo had lost his parents when he was five and had been living with his only other immediate living kin, his grandmother. he had lost her too around the time he was fifteen along with some other things happening at the same time, he kind of lost control.
he started smoking, drinking, didn't bother attending school, got into gnarly fights though he was the one getting beat up most of the time. he was on a downward spiral into an endless abyss of darkness. he was a minor at that too so he was hopping around different orphanages until he met jay and his mum.
it was one of those nights sunoo was wandering around and ended up getting comfortable on a bench in the richer side of town. none of those punks from downtown dare come where he was, since they could easily be behind bars if they cause any sort of ruckus. it was the safest for him. sunoo's grandmother had taught him to sketch and stitch; making designs on paper become actual articles of clothing. sometimes he just pulled out his old sketchbook and drew out designs that came to his mind like he did that night.
jay's mum had been curious and walked up to sunoo. sunoo was appalled. he knew he didn't look like he belonged to that side of town but being observant made him realise that jay's mum had some bodyguards not too far away, eyes trained on them.
that was how it began, soon enough, jay's mum had brought him home, introduced him to jay and unofficially adopted him into the family. he'd always be grateful for them since sunoo was able to have a second chance at youth and life.
"i feel you thinking about mushy stuff you sap, stop, come here and eat the steak i made," jay joked from the counter.
sunoo chuckled, these little moments made life feel like it was worth living through.
"man, sunoo snatched the best business major in our year for the project. i need to hurry soon," Jungwon mumbled to himself.
"why are you sulking alone in that corner you sheep?" sunghoon asked as he chewed on his stale pizza slice.
"we have a collaborative project organised by the faculty of business and liberal arts and it's a quarter of our grades. fashion majors have to work with business majors to sell a collection of pieces. we have to design them while the students from business market them for us."
"so? i can ask taehyun hyung from business to help you with the project."
jungwon rolled his eyes, "hyung, it's a project restricted to students from our year."
"how do you know that jay is already occupied?"
"sunoo hyung posted about his collaboration with jay. most of our classmates are going crazy. we've seen sunoo's designs, it's no simple underclassmen work. it's so immaculate and intricate. jay had the highest score for the entrance exam to business in our cohort. we're all practically fucked. are you even listening? nevermind." jungwon grunted in annoyance before slamming the door to his room.
his brother had the attention span smaller than a pea when it came to reality, hence why he never understood how he qualified to be a science major.
sunghoon had multiple notifications on Instagram all tagging him under the unofficial university page. he scrolls to see how kim sunoo had managed to cause havoc in the university.
he snooped around jay's Instagram and saw sunoo's handle linked to his most recent post, momentarily admiring sunoo's smile in the picture.
cute.
he clicked sunoo's profile to see stalk around. sunoo was only following jay's handle and nearly all the posts had their comments restricted. though he could gather enough from jay's posts that many men and women were thirsting over sunoo.
it brought sunghoon back to a conversation from a few years back. sunoo was fifteen and sunghoon was seventeen.
"hyung, why do people like SNS so much?"
"i don't know but i have it because everyone else my age does sunoo-ya."
"i'll never create one. what's the point in having the whole internet knowing what you're doing." sunghoon ruffled his hair, gazing fondly at the boy in front him.
time's have changed, huh. i wish i could go back and fix everything.
