song: deja vu –ateez
5| you'll never find what you're looking for
jungwon tutted his head when he saw sunghoon, again outside his lecture hall. the first few days sunghoon had visited using the excuse that "he missed his brother terribly" but it has been nearing the end of two weeks with sunghoon frequenting so often. though, his eyes always scanning the room while nodding to whatever jungwon was saying.
jungwon realised that sunghoon was spewing bullshit.
"hyung. sunoo hyung isn't here if you're looking for him."
sunghoon's eyes snapped to jungwon's gaze before his shoulders sagged in disappointment.
"do you want to join us for lunch? it's at the burger shack in the faculty of business."
before sunghoon was about to refute, jungwon added, "jake and heeseung hyung invited us. you know that both of us haven't seen them at all this semester with the number of dates they're going on."
"fine, i'll come as long as they treat us for tolerating them being sappy."
"take this elsewhere. i cannot see jake being babied," sunghoon grunted as he shoved a fry in his mouth.
jake and heeseung are in the faculty of social sciences and faculty of business respectively where jake is majoring in psychology while heeseung is pursuing a double major in economics and music.
jake was currently being fed by heeseung, who practically had heart-eyes as he fed the younger.
"you're just jealous no one wants your ass," jake chuckled as he nuzzled his head in the crevice of heeseung's neck receiving more groans from jungwon and sunghoon.
"hyung you don't mind that i brought a friend right?"
sunghoon and jungwon looked up confused upon hearing a foreign voice.
"yah guys it completely slipped my mind. i invited jay to sit with us since he doesn't really know anyone here," heeseung smiled sheepishly, as he made space for the two at their table.
"sunoo hyung!" jungwon waved, which slightly calmed sunoo's nerves. it's been awhile since he had sat in a group setting, other than that horrendous gathering at the bar, coerced by jay but still.
sunghoon couldn't fucking believe his eyes. he had been searching, almost tearing the campus apart trying to locate sunoo for nearly two weeks now and he magically appeared in front of him.
god must have recognised my effort.
sunghoon had been desperately waiting for this. he was not going to let this chance slip away, he's going to corner sunoo if he must but he's going to get all his answers.
how has he been? what had changed? why is he like this?
he's going to fucking choke sunoo with the endless thread of questions he has prepared for him.
"do y'all want something? i can get it for you," jake offered.
"i'm full, i had some food the lecturer had ordered for us," jay kindly declined while sunoo simply shook his head to say no to jake.
silently, sunoo hesitantly took out a pink lunch box with some scratches and a few stickers on it which earned some curious looks from the others at the table.
why did i have to bring it today?
the smell of mouth-watering steak wafted through their noses while sunoo chewed on a slice.
"yah stop drooling." jake gently closed jungwon's mouth.
"oh~ someone must really like sunoo~" heeseung teased.
sunoo slightly choked as jay nudged his bottle of water towards sunoo.
"who made it for you sunoo?" jake asked curiously.
"jay hyung," sunoo muttered but sunghoon noticed how the boy fiddled with jay's sleeves.
he knew what that exactly meant because the younger had done that with him for so long. he was shy. sunoo is extroverted with only people he knows but he always replies when spoken to and smiles when recognised by an acquaintance. though most seem to be attributes of sunoo from the past, something about that innocent and kind-hearted boy still buried somewhere within him gave sunghoon hope.
a chorus of smirks and googly-eyes towards the pair were made as jay calmed them down.
"i'm quite curious on how you two met," jungwon pondered aloud to jay and sunoo, though more directed at jay since at least that way there's a higher probability to get a detailed answer.
"i met sunoo when i was seventeen and he was fifteen. he was going through some things, my mum took him in and he started to live with us and here we are. though i know my mum secretly wants sunoo as her son-in-law, " jay jokes as sunoo slaps his mouth shut.
sunghoon could feel his heart twist some sort of way when he acknowledged that jay and sunoo might become a couple. they acted so differently around each other than normal friends do and jay seemed to be very outspoken about his sexuality.
what ticked him off more was how sunoo didn't seem to really care when jay joked about getting married to him. he remembered how sunoo treated marriage like a sacred word and should not be thrown around carelessly.
he felt slightly irritated and the way sunoo looked at jay got his palms sweaty just thinking about it. when they were younger, as time went by with sunoo, sunghoon could feel the boy's gaze on him begin to feel different.
the happiness gradually blended with fondness and some other indescribable feelings that made his heart pound and fingers clammy.
sunghoon had never wanted to remove the gap between sunoo and him so bad than right at that moment. he didn't know when a wall between the two formed.
one second they were inseparable and suddenly their lives ran parallel.
the moment sunoo excused himself from the table on the pretence he had a class to attend, immediately got sunghoon to his feet. he quietly followed the boy, because he knew that sunoo's next class didn't start until an hour later.
a very bad filler, my apologies.
