This chapter got a lot late than I expected to publish it but my classes started and I couldn't find any time to write. The most I could do was barely manage one or two of my ongoing fanfics so I had to keep this waiting for some time.
But now the weekend is here and I am back to finish what I started.
For those of you who have read the Otherworldly Web one shot in Burger Joint | T. Drake, you will know that I had been writing chapters in which the canon (real life, if there were any) Batboys reacted to fanfics I have written about them on my account. I have done Jason's reaction as well but I feel like I won't be writing Dami's reaction so I posted a snippet on my profile about it.
Many of you wanted me to do a chapter featuring Richard's reaction to Katana | R. Grayson and here it is, in all its dysfunctional glory.
Katana was the first DC fanfic I had written so obviously, I feel like it needs a lot more improvement. But it will make for a hilarious (I hope) topic for discussion here.
So without delaying it any further, let's begin.
~•~
It should have been enough warning for the rest of the Batboys not to try reading the fanfics from that otherworldly website but only Damian was wise enough to pay heed to that warning.
The rest of them had gotten immersed in the fictional worlds that existed in Zenina Dawson's stories. And seeing that she had two stories written on the first Batboy too, Richard couldn't help but check them out.
he decided to read Katana first because it was a standalone story and unlike Tim, he did not want to get trapped in the curse of reading a very extended series entirely just for the sake of finding out what happened in the end.
Reading sixty chapters of a standalone was much better compared to reading nine books with around fifty chapters each. And then he also knew what state that had left Tim in so he was being somewhat cautious.
He skipped reading the Preface because he did not want to see what the fictional versions of their family would look like. He wanted to imagine the characters through descriptions as that was more fun.
Though he had a fair idea that he would be imagining the faces of the people around him just as they were and that would make reading the fanfic more fun for him.
The first chapter was short and cryptic, focusing on a swordfight between an entire army opposing one woman. He liked the descriptions as they made things easier to picture but when he read about the emerald-eyed boy who the woman spared, he knew in an instant that was supposed to be Damian.
"Don't tell me... Did she kill more than half of Ra's Al Ghul's League? That's impressive."
Barbara seemed to have realized he had picked up Tim's habit of reading fanfics too so she stopped by to check on him, "are you sure you can handle it or shall we expect you to react just like Tim was throwing a fit a few hours earlier?"
"Of course not, Babs, I am not immature."
She nodded, "alright. We'll see about that."
"Wait," he looked up, pausing on the second chapter, "so you're expecting me to react exactly as Tim did? Come on..."
"Nope," her eyes sparked playfully, "I'm expecting you to react worse because you are just as dramatic if not more when compared to Tim."
He shrugged nonchalantly, "I'll prove you wrong. If you don't believe me, you can stay here and see for yourself."
"Tempting but unlike you, I have a lot to do."
"We could read this together?" He offered again, "I know you love holding books clubs with Jay, why can't you do one such thing with me?"
