Loke woke with a forceful stretch and a loud yawn. Sunlight beamed through the windows, telling him it was time to wake up, but his body was doing its best to refuse the call to action. He could feel it objecting as he pushed himself up off the couch. Sleeping on Earthland just didn't rejuvenate him as well as his own world, but sacrifices had to be made if he wanted to keep this home. One of which was sleeping here to prove to the landlord he actually lived here.
He stretched as he slowly forced himself to stand. He'd never actually slept in the bed here once he became its sole owner. In fact it was locked up, with all her precious items locked away safely for the day she may want to see them again. If not, they could go to his home in the stars. Either way, he would not let the memories his late wife, Lucy Heartfilia, left behind disappear. Nor the mark she had left on this world.
He washed his face in the bathroom sink, made himself a coffee (the only drink left in the cupboards), and got ready to start the day. He closed and locked the front door carefully as he left, keeping to his long time tradition of saying farewell to her, before leaving to the guild.
Fairytail had changed hands a few times since Lucy had left, none quite reaching Makarov's standard he felt. The guild's members that he had known, his dear friends and team, had all passed on, but their grandchildren were running it with their beliefs at heart. Fairytail still welcomed everyone with an open mind and he could only imagine that, if they could see it, they would be so proud of the guild now. Power wasn't important here, just the strong bonds that were formed here. The family ties were as strong as ever and he was so thankful.
He walked up to the entrance of the guild with pride and a little bit of anticipation. Apparently Seraphina (Name inspired by her Grandfather Natsu, as she'd inherited his energetic, fiery personality, inside of the tamer, cautious one of her father) had 'bumped into someone interested in joining the guild'. He knew there was a story there, that little vixen didn't just bump, so much as careen into everything around her. So every guild member in town had been asked to greet her when she visited today, to make her feel welcome, that included him. It'd been a while since their last new member. The guild's notoriety was as strong as ever, so if she stuck around it'd be a nice change of pace, hopefully anyway.
He finally walked into the guild and immediately spotted the fire gremlin in question, she was short but solidly built. If you underestimated her due to her size you were in for a nasty surprise. Her grin was as stoothy as ever and she styled her hair after her Grandfather. It was spikey, and mostly shocking pink, but her natural white peaked out at the edges. A nod to her father who had raised her alone. She was sporting her own Exceed partner in Ember. Ember was cream coloured mainly, but small blue spots littered her body like freckles. Happy had been thrilled to learn that his and Natsu's family would stay friends, though those two were more than just friends. They were bound by a deep seated loyalty to the end. It was inspiring in a sense. He made his way over, but stopped suddenly so the long wisp of water shooting past didn't hit him. Predictably it splashed against Sera's head, knocking her forward. She spun around, glaring at her assailant.
"Oi! What was that for sea breath?!"
Jet strolled over to her calmly. He'd inherited the magic of his grandmother, preferring it to everything else offered, but had the cold, standoffish nature of his grandad. He was a lone wolf who kept to himself, except when it came to his team, especially Sera. He wondered how Natsu and Gray would feel knowing their grandkids had a soft spot for each other? Personally he thought it was hilarious. He was as tall as gray, but his hair was a short, deep blue, he was more calculating than Sera and tried to keep his interest in her company a secret. It was fascinating to watch Juvia's obsessive behaviour mesh with Gray's quiet but strong love to create his own unique approach. He'd swear up and down he didn't want to be near her, but every man in the guild was glared at as a 'love rival'. Except him, thankfully, he was the weird uncle who told stories of missions long ago. He was safe, besides, he was married.
