The sounds of voices talking lured her from her sleep. Emma's entire body ached in ways it never had before. Slowly, she opened her eyes, a groan escaping. That seemed to get the attention of a few others. "Hey, Greenie," someone said. "Nice of you to finally join us."

The girl opened her eyes, blinking a few times. It took her a moment for her eyes to focus. The bright light didn't help. It made the throbbing inside her skull worse. "Hm?"

Newt chuckled, glancing at Jeff, who came closer. "How are you feeling?"

"Tired," she responded a moment later. "Sore." It felt as if she had overworked her muscles, but the pain in her ankle wasn't nearly as bad.

"That's surprising, considering you slept over a day."

Her eyes instantly widened. She tried to sit up but struggled. Jeff was quick to help her. "What?"

"Yeah," Newt confirmed. "You've been sleeping quite a bit. We were getting worried, actually."

Emma rubbed her eyes. She had slept over a day. How was that possible? "Did I hit my head that hard?"

Jeff chuckled, taking a seat in front of her. "No, actually. Most likely, it was exhaustion." That surprised her. "How much sleep do you normally get?"

The girl shrugged. "A few hours. Four, maybe five."

Newt choked on air. He coughed violently. "Are you serious? Four hours?"

"Maybe five-"

"That's not any better," he argued. "Why aren't you sleeping? Is something wrong? Why haven't you told us?"

The rapid-fire questions were a lot for her mind to handle. "Uh," she tried to think, but that made her head hurt worse. "I don't know." Emma didn't think it mattered, nor did she want to bother anyone. "It doesn't really matter." She felt well rested now.

Newt scoffed in disbelief. "Doesn't matter?" Emma looked around the room. The only people inside the Med-Jack hut were Newt and Jeff. The last thing she remembered was Gally. He was there. He stayed by her side the entire time. The memories caused her cheeks to flush. Now that the situation was no longer adrenaline-inducing, she could process everything. Gally carried her to the Med-Jack hut, held her hand, and stayed with her while she slept. So, where was he now? "Don't you think-"

"Where's Gally?"

The question caught Newt by surprise. "What?" The last thing he expected was for her to ask about where Gally was. He anticipated questions about what happened and possibly where Dmitri was.

"Where's Gally?" Emma questioned again. "He was here when I fell asleep."

"Yeah," Newt spoke slowly. "I sent him away. Don't worry about it." He knew they didn't get along. Gally had been there for her when she was hurt, but he wasn't needed anymore.

"Oh." Emma had no idea why she felt disappointed.

Jeff cleared his throat. "How's your head?"

"Hurts," she responded. "But not nearly as bad."

"Good." He slid out of the chair and kneeled on the ground. Gently, he grabbed her leg and raised it. "I need you to wiggle your toes."

"Okay." Emma did as told.

"Any tingling or numbness?"

"No, it just hurts."

"Good, then it's not broken, but it's sprained. I don't want you putting pressure on it for a week, but you shouldn't do too much for the next six weeks."
