Kiva was a Corentine. She was the crown Princess
Jaren was a Vallentis. By default he was the enemy of her family.
But Kiva didn't know that. She didn't know she was bringing her enemy into her palace. Her home.
She didn't know or suspect it. And while Jaren wasn't planning to bring down the ruling family and declare himself as prince, he still felt slightly guilty. He told himself that this was for Tipp.
Kiva led the two of them into the River Palace, with Naari by her side. Jaren stared in awe of the palace- it was so beautiful and grand. He heard Tipp breathe out too as he was also admiring the palace.
"I'll take you to your rooms first, then we'll all go meet my parents." Kiva announced, guiding them over a bridge to a wing of the palace. "This is my wing of the palace. My siblings have their personal quarters here too but my parents are located on the other wing." Kiva continued. Jaren's insides twisted, he knew Kiva had siblings but he still winced at the thought of his siblings. Mirry was still out there, she probably didn't know he was free from Zalindov and his brother... was dead. It was a memory Jaren didn't want to relive but at the thought of Oriel, he couldn't help it. He had died so many years ago but Jaren couldn't have saved him in time. Mirry was the only family he had left, since his father died in Zalindov years ago and his mother had only died days ago from the outbreak of protests.
Jaren followed Kiva, acting as best as he could to show nothing was wrong.
But everything was wrong. Jaren's golden, healing powers were back and a single sign of them could ruin everything.
"I thought you and Tipp would like a joining suite. Since you've lived together for so long, it might be nice to have company." Kiva smiled sadly unlike Tipp who was grinning with excitement for his new life.
"It'll b-be like a-a sleepover! F-forever!" The small boy squealed. Jaren smiled, he wouldn't be alone. Kiva opened the door to the suite, it was grand like the rest of the palace. There was a massive common area to two adjoining rooms, one close and one located at the opposite side of the room. Jaren and Tipp's suite shared a bathroom that was equally lavish.
"I suppose you're right.." Jaren muttered so quietly no one heard him trail off. Tipp bounced off to explore the large rooms while Jaren stood in awe. Kiva stepped beside him.
"I'll go let you two settle and I'll come back soon so you can go meet my family." She murmured close to him. Jaren nodded as Kiva turned to leave. "Oh and I think you'll like that room." She called from the doorway. She was pointing to the further of the two rooms. He nodded again in thanks and slowly walked over to the room.
"I want this room!" Tipp yelled out from the other bedroom, claiming it as his. Jaren didn't respond as he had entered his own room which was... something.
Dark, navy curtains hung from the large window that towered over a lovely view. A lush forest was underneath with a long, windy river flowing into the distance. He stuck his head out, turning to see the edge of a small province in Vallenia that was also in the far distance. He stumbled back a few steps, gazing at the rest of the room. There was a massive four poster bed, a sturdy but intricate set of drawers and a well sized wardrobe. This room was beyond what he had expected. (A/N: cause y'know Zalindov isn't that great) There was also a set of new clean clothes which Jaren had changed into.
"Woahhh." Tipp breathed out. Jaren hadn't heard Tipp's footsteps entering the room but he nonetheless welcomed him inside.
"It's nice, right?" Jaren softly agreed. Tipp nodded his head slowly with a smile before grabbing Jaren's hand. The young boy tugged Jaren out of his room, leading him into his own room. Jaren smiled.
Tipp's room had matching navy curtains and a big window with an equally beautiful view. But where Jaren had a four poster bed, Tipp had a built in loft bed. Tipp wasted no time in leaving Jaren at the door and jumping to climb on his new bed while Jaren had a look around. It was the same size, though there was also a desk in front of the window.
"Do you like it?" Jaren asked.
"Of course I do! Who wouldn't want to climb into their bed?" Tipp exclaimed with excitement. Instead of stairs or a ladder to get to his bed, there were small grooves against a wall that was next to his bed that Jaren presumed Tipp had used to climb up.
"I don't know Tipp, my bed looks prettttttty comfortable." Jaren drew out with a smirk. Tipp shook his head.
"Nope, mine it's waaaay cooler!" Jaren went to the edge and Tipp jumped down into Jaren's arms.
"I take it you two are having fun?" Kiva called out to them from the door of Tipp's room. She had changed into a long, simple green dress and Naari was beside her, also in a clean set of armour.
"Yeah, we are. This is all amazing." Jaren thanked her and put Tipp and gently placed Tipp back on the floor. Kiva smiled warmly.
"Let's go meet the King and Queen." Naari said, leaving the room after a pause of silence. Jaren and Tipp followed Naari's lead as she guided them to the King and Queen. Kiva walked silently behind them.
They entered the throne room, which was on the other palace wing and paused in front of two empty thrones. The four of them waited a moment until footsteps softly came and joined them. King Faran and Queen Tilda sat on their matching thrones. Kiva's siblings also entered the room, surrounded by a rank of guards. Zuleeka, Torell and Kerrin made their way behind their parents. Jaren and Tipp both lowered themselves into a bow. When they rose from their bow, the King spoke.
"Welcome to our home." He addressed Tipp and Jaren. The Queen nodded towards them.
"Thank you for helping us." Jaren thanked while also speaking for Tipp. The King stood up and walked down to Jaren.
"Is it true you saved my daughter's life?" He asked, looking Jaren right in the eye. Jaren gulped.
"Kiva saved me many times, I only healed when I could." Jaren humbly said. The
King grasped Jaren's hand and shook it, welcoming Jaren to a new life.
