Alexia takes her time to look around the room, while Erin was preparing the last things before starting the session.
The therapy room was huge, a therapy bench just next to the blondes desk and a bigger training area covering the rest of the room with a treadmill, a spinning bike, some different strength machines and an open area with a huge mat for some self weight exercises.
It was extremely cool actually, Alexia felt like she'd been coming to an well organized and prepared rehab center at the sight of this.
"Okay, Alexia. Why don't we take a seat over there and talk a little at first", the therapist offers, pointing towards two armchairs opposite from each other in front of the windows, as the athlete immediately turns around, slowly making her way there.
"If your ever want some water or fruits while the session, you can just get some over there, as well as towels or other belongings that you could need", the blonde informs with a friendly smile, Alexia being amazed by all the stuff that belonged to Erin's room.
She didn't expect it to be this great.
"Okay", the captain breathes, looking around the room before her eyes land back on Erin, the blonde staring at her for a second before she leans back into her seat, taking a deep breath.
"Very well, then. I usually take the time to get to know my athletes before starting with the actual therapy. And it's extremely important that you get to know me since you have to somehow... trust me even though you've never seen me before", Erin explains, her words quick as Alexia holds onto her crutches tightly, feeling somehow nervous in the blondes presence.
"So... First. I'm Erin. I've been working for the Barcelona Rehab for around two years now, after coming here from England, where I've been working as a team therapist at Chelsea and Manchester City for their women's teams", Erin explains, the captain listening intensely while she keeps looking at the therapist.
"Second, there are going to be some rules. As soon as you get through this door...", Erin smiles, standing up as she goes over towards the captain, taking the crutches from Alexia's hands as she puts them into a holder beside her desk.
"You can use them for today because you maybe feel still uncomfortable without them. But for tomorrow I want you to put those crutches away over the session", the blonde smiles, getting back the crutches as she hands them to Alexia, the captain staring at the blondes movement while Erin was now standing around two meters in front of her.
"There are railings around the whole room that will help you stabilize yourself whenever you're moving around from tomorrow on. I want you to learn walking without those things and trust your knee again, okay?", Erin explains, trying to convince the athlete that this was something they want every patient to do.
"Okay... I think I can do that", Alexia says nervously, standing up on herself with her weight on her right knee as she stumbles over towards the desk, putting her crutches inside as she holds onto the handrail.
"I said from tomorrow on", Erin smiles, knowing that the brown haired athlete had understand what she said just right.
Alexia looks at her unsurely.
"I know... let's pretend it is tomorrow already. I wanna improve", the captain shrugs, holding onto the handrail tightly as she takes a quick look at the window.
"Alright, then. How about we get you a bottle of water first?", Erin smiles, approaching the athlete as she was now standing beside her, Alexia looking at the other side of the room that seemed to be kilometers away.
Getting there would've been much easier with those stupid sticks.
Or with a healthy knee.
Without a word, the captain looks at the ground, stepping forward with her left leg as she holds onto the handrail, Erin walking beside her with her hand facing up, stretched out for the athlete to grab, while Alexia takes her first step.
