And yet, the tome called out to him.
Kaeman's hands seemed to act of their own will as they turned the pages of the tome, as he was amazed by what he saw. Truly, no one else could see what he saw. He saw the flaws of all the magic he had been taught. This was true power.
Tendrils of magic flowed from the runes on the page into Kaeman's fingers. He stood up as the tome levitated between his hands, ready to aid him on his quest.
With a blast of power, Kaeman soared into the air. The sheer magnitude of the blast caught him off guard and sent him out of control. He was amazed. This was the tip of the iceberg. Perched atop it, was Chozon, the last of the dragons that had attacked his land. Kaeman was furious. Though the dragon was not why his daughter was dead, and was not the culprit for his suffering, he was determined to kill it.
He holstered the tome on his hip and his expression turned to that of pure rage. Using all that he had learned at the academy, he unleashed a flurry of attacks on the dragon, all of which bounced straight off of its thick hide. A quick lash of its tail sent Kaeman flying, and once again the tome protected Kaeman from a surely fatal impact.
In his blind rage his attacks were inaccurate and weak. The dragon shrugged off all of the attacks and time after time, Kaeman was flung long distances by its counterattacks. Even though his spells were much more powerful than a normal mage's due to his extensive training, the dragon acted as if they might as well have not hit it at all.
Stumbling back to his feet, Kaeman resorted to his last weapon. The tome levitated into his hands and as he cast a spell from its pages, his soul turned
