That week passed uneventfully.
Amy's arm hadn't quite healed but her black eye had faded for the most part. Most of our scratches and bruises had vanished and we were in a good mood for the most part.
I hadn't had any episodes since the one dream the other night, and Amy was enjoying having technology around for the first time in her life.
I woke up on Monday with Amy cuddling beside me. I shook her awake and we got dressed in the master bath.
In the kitchen Mark had eggs frying in a pan and bacon in the oven.
"Ready for a day of shopping?" He asked.
I slid into a seat at the counter.
"No." I said rubbing my eyes.
"You really aren't a morning person are you?" He asked teasingly, sliding into the seat next to me.
"We'll leave after breakfast. Amy, how do you like your eggs?"
"Scrambled with lots of salt and pepper." She said. "What kind of eggs are they?"
"Ummm... Chicken?" He responded. Obviously confused.
"We lived in the woods. Remember?" I asked.
"Right." He said laughing.
"I like my eggs over easy.." He cut me off.
"With two eggs and the whites mixed so it looks like a double egg." He finished for me.
"How'd you know?" I asked, not understanding why he knows so much about me.
"That's how you liked them when you were little. You thought the idea of twin chicks in one egg was a good one. So you made your eggs that way." I laughed.
He got up and pulled the bacon out of the oven and flipped some eggs off the stove, plated them and handed me my food. They two eggs were mixed together and a slice of bacon was curved beneath them, creating a smile.
I grinned at him then dug in.

After breakfast Mark led us outside through the cave steps. Outside we walked for a little while then broke into a jog. The fresh air smelled nice, and I enjoyed the exercise. We ran for half a mile or so, and walked for the rest of a mile.
"Do we have to walk this far every time we go to town?" Amy asked, stumbling behind us.
"Yup." Mark responded, stopping so he could lift her onto his shoulders.
"If she gets to heavy I can carry her for a while." I offered, falling into step with him.
"I'll be fine. There's only a little ways to go." Was his response.
We walked on and after another five minutes, we came to a parking lot. There were only a couple cars parked there and Mark led us to a red minivan.
"Nice ride." I teased.
"Thanks. It was my fourth birthday present." He said seriously.
"I'm kind of wishing I liked convertibles back then instead of stow-and-go's. But hey, live with what you got. Right?"
"What four year old gets a car?" Was the only thing I could think to say.
"This guy." He said, pointing both his thumbs at himself.
He put Amy down and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a pair of keys and slid into the front seat.
"How old are you again?" I asked.
"Seventeen." He said turning on the ignition and starting the car.
"Don't you have to be eighteen to legally have your license in California?"
"Yup."
"Then why do you have one?"
"I know people."
"Great." I sighed.
"I'm letting my nine year old little sister drive with a under aged, licensed, teen."
"Just get in the car will you." He said patting the passenger seat.
"Don't mind of I do!" Amy said, running over to the other side of the car.
"No ya don't." I said putting a hand on her head. "Just be glad I'm letting you sit in a car that's being driven by Mark."
"Fine." She said, climbing into the back seat, moping.
I slid into the passenger seat and Mark backed out of the parking lot.
"Amy, your sister is such a party pooper! How did you let her get like this?" Mark asked, giving me a smirk.
He turned around in his seat and whispered loudly, "There's some candy in the seat pocket. Eat as much as you want."
"Please keep your eyes on the road." I asked, asked trying not to smile.
But I couldn't help laughing. Mark smiled and turned up the radio. He sang as obnoxiously as possible the whole ride into town. I laughed the whole way there.
