My mind raced as I glanced at the nationals team list, which team was going to nationals. It had been a week since my testing and It was after my show at the Olympic riding grounds, called The Winter Classic Grand Prix. The judges had taken over two hours to decide who would be competing in nationals. Mr.Rossi stood in front of our team, sizing up the list.

The show had went good. I received first in my advanced level dressage, first in show jumping and second in my cross-country class. Paige had walked away with first in everything. Alyssa had won first in her dressage class, third in cross-country and third in show jumping. Megan had gotten sick so she couldn't show.

Mr.Rossi's head snapped up abruptly as he scanned the list. I crossed my fingers, hopefully, hopefully. He smiled widely and told us quietly "We're in girls. We're going to nationals!"

I jumped up and down, squealing as we pulled eachother into a group hug. Mr.Rossi told us "Now girls, in January and February, We will be traveling all over the country. If you don't think you can keep your grades to a B average while doing this, We'll need to have a chat, to see if you can take part in nationals." We nodded all letting the words sink in.

"Now, let's go back home, shall we?" He said. We followed him to the bus and let Robyn and Doug put the horses in their trailers. With them trailing behind us, our bus driver Michael turned on to highway I5 and said "Say goodbye to the show park, it's the last you'll see of it until March!" I waved to the sandy grounds of the show park and smiled to myself, before nodding off into sleep.

I woke up three hours later as the bus pulled into park back at Windsor. I ran out of the bus and started leading Elle out of a trailer and into the stable. Her soft nose rubbed against my cashmere sweater. She nickered softly and I kissed her. "You're a good girl, Elle." I murmured softly into her neck.

She nickered in response. I kissed her again and latched her stall door closed. I waved goodbye to her as I heard her start munching on some gay. I unlocked my dorm, and went inside. Brittnay squealed and hugged me tight. "Congratulations Girl! You're going to nationals!" She yelled while dancing around the room. I grinned. "Thanks Brittnay!" I said. She nodded and asks "Would you like some celebratory cupcakes I made, just for you and I?"

"Yes please! I loveeee cupcakes!" I exclaimed, laughing. She grinned and handed me a chocolate mousse cupcake with a picture of a horse on it. I looked down at the picture questioningly.

She replied to my look "It's rice paper. It's a picture of Elle I got from Paige and Nicole. I had my parents send down some rice paper, while you were away at the nationals." "Ohhhhh..." I sighed, definitely in heaven as I sighed, chewing on some chocolate mousse cupcake.

Brittnay grinned and licked the icing off the top of the cupcake. I smiled and poured each of us a tall glass of coca-cola. I gave us each four ice cubes and stuck a purple swirly straw in hers and a teal swirly straw mine.

We clinked our glasses together and sighed, as we both watched the sun go down on the campus of Windsor Preparatory.
