An abomination shoves the two illusionists together, and tangled vines trap them in place. It's a huge effort to not immediately spring up to free them, but I somehow manage to stay put.
In the distance, Bria takes another galdorstone hidden in the arms of a statue. Some of the other blue pearls fall to the ground, and I occupy myself by grabbing one. "Oh!" exclaim Angmar and Gavin as they get a closer look at the powerful gems.
"Huh.." I mutter quietly, inspecting the orb in my hands. That quickly changes to an outraged cry of "Hey!!" as Angmar snatches the glorified rock out of my hands, adding it to his growing collection.
"We're playing by Glandus rules, Matty. You can have anything you want.. if you're strong enough to take it." The despicable trio laugh as I look up at Bria, perched in the large stone hands of a statue. Again, that irk comes at the bothersome nickname, but I push it back. There are more important things to think about, like how Bria was blatantly lying to Gus about wanting to "change things". Not like I didn't know, but still.
A small hope forms at the back of my mind. Maybe Gus will stop liking Bria now that she's been proven to be a bully and a liar.
That reminds me. Why am I still friends with these people?
I look down, and then over at Gus. He's still miserably stuck in thorned plants. My heart twinges as I walk over to try and justify my actions. I know I've been awful, not sticking up for him. I just hope he forgives me, so we can be...
Friends.
That's all.(A/N: are you sure about that bestie 💃🏾)
