Chapter 14

I'm sorry my last chapter was so spaced out.

I was writing it on a computer and I'm not used to doing that so...yeah.

School starts back up in one week...

One word: Why?

This summer went by so fast, it feels like just yesterday it was the first day of summer.

I didn't really accomplish anything this summer.

Besides all the drama with Riley, Missy and Brittany.

And Brad.

And Lucas hasn't been here half the summer.

What an awesome way to go into 10th grade!

I walked into the clothing store to look at some new outfits.

Mrs. Matthews gave me some money so i could go shopping.

Usually i would go with Riley, but she ditched me for Missy and Brittany.

I started heading towards the juniors section when i saw a familiar face.

Crap.

I speed walked in a different direction and let out a breath.

It was Brad.

I can't let him see me, I've been trying to avoid him ever since Missy posted that picture of us.

I saw him walking in my direction and i started to stand up, but it was too late.

"Oh hey Maya!" He exclaimed.

I turned around and slapped a fake smile on my face. "Oh hey!"

He approached me and i tried keeping the smile on my face. "It's been awhile."

I nodded. "Uh-huh."

It was awkward after that so Brad spoke up, "Listen, i'm sorry about that picture my cousin posted of us. That was awkward."

I nodded again. "It's fine."

Brad then let out a chuckle. "I'm just lucky your boyfriend didn't beat me up for that."

I let out a nervous laugh. Lucas has never actually seen the picture...

Riley has seen it but i guess she got distracted and never showed him.

"Well, I have to go. Nice talking to you!" I said quickly.

I started walking away when i heard Brad say, "See you next week in school."

I waved to him and mumbled under my breath.

So excited for school.

Not.

i walked into the apartment with no bags in my hands.

I decided i would go shopping later...

I walked into the kitchen and nearly jumped when i saw who was in there.

"Lucas?"

He stood up. "Oh hey."

I blinked. "Oh hey? That's all?"

He smiled at me. "I'm sorry, i had a way to surprise you but i got distracted."

He hugged me and then let go after a few seconds.

"Where were you?" He asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I was just shopping. By myself."

"What about Riley? Is she still being a jerk?"

"Apparently."

Lucas rolled his eyes. "i don't know what's going on with her."

"it's okay Lucas. At least you are here now."

"Yeah, about that..." His voice trailed off.

I turned around. "You are joking."

He chuckled. "yeah. I'm not going anywhere, don't worry."

Hey, remember that thing Lucas and Riley were talking about that Maya couldn't know about?

That is coming up in a few chapters.

Anyways, short and sweet little chapter for you guys.

Next couple chapters will be them starting school and you will see Riley, Brittany and Missy interaction...
