Maya's POV:
I looked up at a tall building and then back at topanga. "Thank you but you don't need to go up with me, I know the room number."

She nodded. "Okay. Just text me when you need me, I'll be in the area."

I climbed out of the car and watched her car leave.

The reason she was staying in the area was because we were a hour away from the apartment.

It would be silly to drive back there and then here again to pick me up.

I don't know how long I will be here though...

I walked into the apartment lobby and saw a guy sitting at the main counter.

He didn't even look up to see me so I just walked past him.

Wow, someone could be robbing someone and he wouldn't even notice.

Great security.

I pushed the 3 button on the elevator and waited.

I remember when I talked to Morgan, my moms friend and she told me she lived on the third floor.

As the elevator went up, I pulled out my phone to see a text from Lucas. 'Hey can you call me?'

I texted back. 'Sorry I can't right now'

I was hoping it wasn't that important that I could just call him after this is done.

The elevator opened and I went down the hallway to see the room I was looking for.

I knocked on the door and the door opened right away

A tall woman with brown hair answered and smiled at me, "hello Maya, come inside."

I went inside and looked around. The apartment was very much like the apartment the Matthews had.

I then looked at the living room and saw my mom.

It was strange to see someone you haven't seen in over a year..especially if it was your own mother.

"Hi Maya." She said.

"Hi mom."

Lucas's POV:
After thinking for awhile, I decided to go find Riley.

Maya answered my text and said she couldn't talk until later.

I really needed to talk to as soon as possible...but it was too late now.

I walked into the living room to see Riley doing her homework.

"Nerd." I commented, before sitting down.

She looked up. "Oh shut up, at least I'm not failing."

"I've never failed a class in my entire class."

I then moved on from the subject and said, "I think when mom comes home we should tell both mom and dad what we know.

"She won't be home until Maya is here." She said

Oh right...I forgot that her mom lived an hour away.

"Don't you think they already know?" Riley added on.

I shrugged. "I don't know..its just kind of strange if they didn't know."

"Nobody must've realized it? It was probably just a mistake."

"Okay...but Maya doesn't know that she really isn't adopted does she?" Riley said, looking up from her homework.

I sighed. "No...not yet anyway."

~~~~~~~
"So why did you move here?" Maya asked her mom curiously.
Before she was living in Colorado, it was just weird that she came all the way to New York.
She shrugged. "I don't know. New York is a lot more exciting."
"I guess." Maya said.
Morgan sat next to Maya's mom on the couch. "I'm a long time friend of your mom. I used to babysit you when you were younger."
Maya smiled, pretending she remembered who Morgan actually was before they talked even the phone.
Even though she actually didn't.
"So how is it living with the Matthews?" Katy asked. (Referring to her as Katy since this is third person point of view)
Maya took a sip out of her water that Morgan offered her. "Good. It's nice."
She decided not to mention the part about dating her "adoptive" brother...
"So you don't know." She sighed.
"Know what?"
