this chapter's song:
is this love? james arthur

Jungwon pressed his lips together, examining himself in the mirror. It was Saturday evening and he was getting ready for the party that was being held in half an hour. He had no idea where to even start. Does he do his hair? Does he dress up or wear a hoodie like he always does? I mean, it was a jock houseparty, after all— So, hoodie it was.

He pulled the head hole of the hoodie over his head and sighed as he looked back into the mirror. No, this wasn't it. He grabbed a collard baby blue t-shirt out of his closet and hesitated before trying it on. "This is fine." He mumbled under his breath. Who was he trying to impress, anyway? He matched the shirt with a pair of jeans and white converse. He wet his hair and combed it back, making his forehead slightly show. Jungwon had to look like he at least belonged there.

He felt the back pocket of his jeans vibrate.

jay
i'm out in front :P

A grin appeared on Jungwon's face. He liked the message Jay sent and hurried down the stairs. He locked the door behind him and started walking towards Jay's car.

"You like my whip?" Jay asked, shouting from inside his black Mercedes Benz.

"Didn't take you to be a benz kinda guy."

"Well, I continue to surprise you, don't I?"

"You do," Jungwon went on, "Didn't know you even drove."

Jay smiled softly. "I started walking to school with someone recently so this baby stays in the garage."

"I see." Jungwon replied, ducking his head as he got into the passenger seat.

Jay was wearing a brown letterman jacket over a black shirt  with black jeans. He accessorized with a silver chain necklace. He looked striking and Jungwon couldn't help but stare immensely at him. He swallowed back what felt like a lump in his throat.

"You— look great." Jay said hesitantly, a wider smile spreading across his face. "The button up."

Jungwon smiled back shyly and bit the inside of his cheek. "Thanks."

"You ready to go?"

"Yeah."

"I'm really glad you decided to go." Jay said, the pit of Jungwon's stomach flipping— like some damn acrobats.

"Me too."

"And, Jungwon," Jay paused for a moment, "If you want to leave at any point, just let me know. We can leave whenever."

Jungwon nodded. He had never met someone so considerate of him. "Yeah, I will."

"Good."

They drove off and exited the neighborhood. Jay turned up the music that was already playing.

It's like my lungs are opening for the first time
Ever since I met you
And I'm on my way now
Is this love, really love?
Is this love, really love?

"I only really listen to sappy love songs."

"I swear I learn something new about you every few hours."
