this chapter's song:
get you the moon kina

It was Sunday and Jungwon hadn't heard from Jay since Friday. He had felt really bad about what he said to him and wanted to apologize but he couldn't find the right words to say. Truth was, Jungwon knew Jay wasn't the type of person who liked to talk about his feelings. Other than talking about his feelings for Jungwon, when it came to literally anything else, Jay seemed to shut down. Jungwon, as someone who also had kept to himself his whole life, knew to not pry and let him talk when he was ready to or when he needed to. Jungwon at least had hoped he put himself in a position where it was easy for Jay to come to him. All he wanted to do was be there for him but Jungwon knew that it was probably incredibly hard for Jay to reach out or express his compressed feelings with him— or anyone at all. Although Jungwon knew he wasn't wrong for saying what he said, he also knew that he was in no position to even say that to him in the first place— because he was the same way.

So, there he was again, standing in front of Jay's front door. Not knowing what he wanted to say. He swallowed and fiddled with his fingers before knocking twice. He stepped back, pressing his lips together.

The door opened and there was a girl standing in front of him. She looked around his age and had messy black hair and bangs that fell over her forehead. "Hello?"

"Oh— hi," Jungwon hesitated for a moment, "Is Jay home?"

"Hey, you're Jungwon, aren't you? We have math together." She said, a smile appearing on her face.

"Yeah, I am." Jungwon bit the inside of his cheek.

She stood there and frowned, "You don't know who I am, do you? I'm quite offended."

Jungwon opened his mouth but closed it again, "Sorry— I don't really know anyone in any of my classes, really."

"Well, lucky you, you do now." She said, "I'm Jinny."

"Yeah— I'm Jungwon."

"Nice to meet you," Jinny said, her smile widening.

"You too."

"I think he went out for a run." Jinny said, looking over Jungwon's head into the street.

Jungwon turned his head to look near the neighborhood entrance, "Oh okay, well I'll see you in class then."

Jinny nodded, "Yup, see you." She said, waving her hand before closing the door.

Jungwon ran across the street, back to his house, and opened the garage. He grabbed his bike from the corner and hopped on it, not even turning around to close the garage door. He had a feeling Jay would be at the rock.

He pedaled past the neighborhood sign and into the park area where Jay brought him the other week. Jungwon got off his bike and laid it on the ground. He walked into the wooded area and saw Jay laying there, hands rubbing on his face.

Jungwon approached him carefully, "Jay."

Jay sat up abruptly, not expecting to see Jungwon standing there, "Jungwon."

Jungwon stepped closer and gasped when he saw blood dripping from near Jay's eyebrow. His bottom lip was swollen and his eyes were red and puffy from crying. Jungwon felt his heart drop down to his stomach. He rushed over to him. "Jay, what happened? Are you okay?"

Jay wrapped his arms around Jungwon, his face buried in Jungwon's chest. Before he could mumble any words out, tears started to stream down his cheeks and he broke down, sobbing. Jungwon pulled him closer and caressed his head, combing his fingers through his hair. "I'm here."
