"Destiny Jacobs!"
The crowd roared with applause as the 16 year old girl made her way to the front. Her brown skin shone in the light of the hall, complementing her two kinky low ponytails.
She smiled brighter than she ever had in her entire life.It was her highschool graduation after all.
"Dee!" She heard from the crowd. Her eyes landed on her parents who excitedly pointed cameras at her. She waved shyly at them before continuing her stroll to the stage.
"Miss Destiny Jacobs will also be receiving the valedictorian award for the year of 2022," the plus sized man at the front said with a bright smile as he hands two rolled up certificates to Destiny.
"I'm very proud of you," he whispered to her as they shake hands, his Rosy cheeks as bright as ever.
Destiny smiled. Headmaster Phillips had always been one of her biggest anchors in school.Making her way back to her seat, Destiny's attention, along with that of the entire hall, was shifted to the backdoor that was opened with a loud thud.
"Wasn't anybody gonna tell me it's my little sister's graduation?"
Walking in with a smile was her elder sister.
Navia."Navia?" Destiny let out with excitement as she ran for the door with excitement running up and down her nerves.
Destiny raced into Navia's arms, taking in the sweet scent of her dreadlocks. Apple and cinnamon hairspray. It was her favorite.
"I got you a little something."
Destiny watched as her sister pulled out a little box from behind.
"Open it."Destiny looked back at the crowd nervously as she tugged at the ribbon on the box, undoing the bow.
But her excitement quickly faded as she reached in an felt a hard and cold item.
"An alarm clock?"Riiing!
Struggling to turn it off, Destiny looked up at her sister who had a sly smile spread across her face. "It's time to wake up little sis."
"Huh?"
Destiny got up from her bed, breathing heavily.
She looked around.
There was still a loud ringing.
The alarm clock.
She reached out for it and turned it off, giving out a relieved sigh at the sound of silence. She wasn't in the overcrowded school hall. She was in her bedroom with posters of her favorite Hollywood icons like Diana Ross and Marsai Martin stuck all around.
Just a dream Dee, she thought to herself. Just a dream.
She got out of bed and walked up to the calendar on the wall that had crosses over the previous dates.
She smiled as she crossed off the last day of the month. She scribbled a few words on to the side of the calendar and stared at them with a smile.
Highschool graduation!:)
