"What'd I say about drooping?"

Destiny sighed.

"That we can only do it during the prom king and queen dance because we have no dates?"

"Exactly. So why on Earth are you carrying out the task before time?"

"I don't know. I guess I just don't feel like it."

Yasmin sighed.
"I assumed you wouldn't give me a solid answer...so..."

Destiny watched as Yasmin walked away for a while and came with her arm linked around that of a dark skinned boy with a curly haired afro in a blue tuxedo.

Luke.

"Luke, meet my best friend Destiny. And Dee, this is Luke...some guy I met by the punch bowls."

"I-I know her," Luke let out shyly.

"W-what? You do?" Yasmin said as destiny saw the smile that she tried the bite away.  "I had no idea. Since you guys clearly have a lot to talk about I'll leave ya to it."

Flashing Destiny a large smile and a double thumbs up, Yasmin made her way back to another group of girls.

"Hi," Luke said as he awkwardly took a seat next to Destiny.

"Hi."

"...So,"

"So."

"How's the night going?"

"I don't know. Not what I expected?"

"You had expectations for your Brownhill high graduation? Heck, i'm still wrapping my head around how they managed to hire a DJ without the PTA throwing in donations towards a fund called project fee."

Destiny laughed. "Yeah? I know it's crazy but I really did expect this night to make me feel so different. But it's just another day at Brownhill high."

"Sounds to me like you were expecting a highschool musical experience."

Destiny chuckled. "As long as I get to be Taylor."

"Guess that makes me Chad."

Destiny blushed.

"No uh...not like that. I mean, they were-they were like a duo or dance partners but not really partners like reproduction partners but like"-

"Luke?"

"Yeah?"

"I know what you mean."

With a relieved smile, Luke stood up. "Well I hope you also knew that the follow-up question from there is me asking you to dance."

"Oh," Destiny said as she stood up and placed her hand in the one Like held out for her. "Sure."

The two made their way through the crowd of the people, the beat of the upbeat pop music under their feet.

One of the girls in a glittery dress stood by the front, microphone in hand.

"Alright everybody, ten minutes till we announce prom king and queen."

The music quickly changed into a slow one.
One by one, couples placed arms around each other and started swaying to the music.

"Right," Destiny said as nervous as ever.

Luke smiled at her before pulling her closer. His arm around her waist and her free hand clung onto his shoulder in response, relaxing afterwards.

"You look really pretty Destiny."
