"It took mum two weeks to get every bit of oatmeal off the ceiling."

Destiny laughed as Navia concluded with the story of the one time Joshua was left in charge of the house for a whole week while Jennifer went on a work trip to Seychelles.

They sat at the top of the steps in Destiny's memory void.

Destiny couldn't remember ever feeling this way  with Navia.

Happy

Unafraid of making her angry.

Safe.

"And that's the story that led to all our crazy nanny stories."

"I can't believe one pot of oatmeal did all that," Destiny said with a hard laugh. "That's probably where you get your cooking skills from."

Destinys laugh was met with silence.

Navia didn't do more than just stare at her blankly.

Her heart began to race.

Had she gone too much out of pocket?

Did she ruin the moment she had been waiting most of her life to experience?

Was she-

Navia snorted.

Destiny was in the middle of a sigh of relief when Navia pulled her into a tight squeeze.

"It's funny cause it's true you little"-

Navia ruffled with her hair as she kicked and squirmed.
"Cut it out Nav."

Navia let go.

"Nav. I like that. It's official now. I go by that."

"Oh wow."

"What? You can't be the only one with a cool nickname in that house."

Destiny smiled. "Hey, if you don't mind me asking, why'd you start cooking all of a sudden? You know grandma Lauren was so close to calling 911 when you made her pancakes right?"

Navia laughed. "As much as Grandma Lauren is not the best culinary judge, I agree my cooking isn't all that. My therapist just gave me a list of things to try so that I could get my mess together and cooking was the best on the list. I mean, could you imagine me going for Rhumba classes?"

Destiny clutched her stomach as she laughed at Navia's impression of a basic Rhumba dance.

"Well," she started, "when we get home I could run you through some of my tricks. PB and J...fried eggs...and ooh, a chef's special, boiled water."

"Jerk much?" Navia said as she reached for Destiny again but she missed.

"What about those crazy nanny stories?"

Navia sighed and looked around. "I think we'll talk about that another time."

"I don't think we have another time. After this it's either we're dying or we're gonna wake up and forget this ever happened. It's gonna be one weird dream that none of us are gonna talk about."

Navia frowned and placed her palm on Destiny's cheek. "Hey. Don't worry about that okay? We're both gonna survive this and I'm pretty sure we're not going to forget all of this." She stops to take a look around. "This was quite the experience."

Destiny smiled.

"And besides," Navia continued. "I've been talking for the longest. What about you?"

"What about me?"

"Have any plans on the first things you're gonna do when we get home?"

Destiny frowned. "That's weird."

"What's weird?"

"Home. I feel like I've been here my entire life."

"I just can't wait to take a nap cause I'm beat."

"What if we...you know...have to stay in hospital for some extra months. Gosh, what if our limbs have been cut off? Forty percent of car crash related injuries"-

"Whoa there. Slow down. Whatever happens...happens. But at least this time we'll have each other. Whatever comes our way. Navia and Destiny."

"Destiny and Navia."

"Navia and Destiny "

Destiny chuckled. "Navia and Destiny."

"But yeah...back to your plans for when we get home."

"I think I'll need a bit more time to think about it."

Suddenly, a wall of memories slid out of the pattern that it formed with the others and quickly zoomed past the rest, making its way to hover in front of Navia and Destiny.

"Sorry, I suck at slow dancing."

Destiny choked.
It was the memory of her and Luke during prom.

"Well, i'm no Juliard graduate myself so it's okay."
The two chuckled.
"So," Luke started.
"So?".
"I was wondering if you'd be free tomorrow night."
"Well...it is a Saturday so I'm guessing so."
"Good. Great. That's uh... that's great. I was sort of wondering if you'd mind catching a movie."
"No. No not at all. As in, no i don't mind no not no I don't wanna go no."
Leo chuckled. "Great. So...pick you up at five? I know it's kinda early but I want us to catch the sunset by the park hills. There's an amazing view."
"I-I'd like that...a lot."

The memory wall went dim and zoomed past the two once more, settling back into place.

Destiny stared at her feet, too embarrassed to face Navia as she felt her cheeks heat up.

"You have a freaking date?!"

Destiny felt her life flash before her eyes as Navia pulled her by her shirt into a tight hug. Which was pretty ironic considering her life was before her eyes.

"You really have a date!"

"Yeah," Destiny responded, pulling away. "No big deal."

"Uh...more like very big deal. This is-this is huge...for me anyway cause you don't look excited."

"I am excited."

"Well you're gonna need to work on how to show it because you have a date! Gosh I can't wait to take you outfit hunting and pick out jewellery and shoes and...and drive you there."

The two paused.

"I don't think the last one's gonna"-

"Yeah I...I just thought about it."

Destiny smiled.

"Highschool romance," Navia said as she leaned back. "The sweetest."

Destiny blushed. "I guess. And hey, speaking of highschool, I'm sorry about the stuff I said when we just got here...about you not graduating and stuff. I don't know where it came from."

Navia sat up and smiled. "It's okay. Don't worry. And...speaking of graduating, I need you to do up a little something with a memory of yours."

"What exactly?"

Navia stood and made her way down. "Just follow me."
