"Loki Laufeyson," The lead Chitarui laughs as the God is forced to kneel, an ironic position for one who wanted to be knelt to. "You have returned to our world, as demanded. Not that you would have had a choice." Loki looks up, eyes full of hatred, masking the fear that he felt. "Just like you don't have a choice now." The leader mocked, and laughed once again. "You remember our deal don't you? Either you take over Midgard," the leader walked over to Loki, staff drawn. "Or we take your life."
"I remember our deal well." Loki growls, and stares up at the monster. "Go ahead. Finish me off. You'll be doing me a favor." "Loki!" Thor's booming voice calls out, and the guards are distracted as they watch Thor, son of Odin, burst into the castle, hair messy and face dirty, covered in bruises and cuts. "Thor, and to what do-" the leader began, but Thor cut him off by falling to his knees. "Please, spare my brother's life. Take mine in exchange." he pleads, head bowed to hide the tears. Even a God can be scared, but he knew this is what he had to do. I won't allow him to die.
The leader looks surprised, and notices Loki struggling to be freed. "Thor, son of Odin, would spare his life for the very God who tried to kill him?" he laughed, and Thor looked up. "He is more than that. He is my brother. I would gladly take his place." Thor says calmly, and the leader ceases his laughter. He looks at Loki, and waves for the guards to release their hold on him. Loki quickly turns and runs to his brother. "No, I will not allow you. You are the heir to the throne. Asgard needs a worthy Prince. Please, do not give your life for mine." Loki begs, and Thor looks at him. He places a soothing hand on Loki's cheek, smiling.
"Do not worry for me my brother. I wish only for you to find peace; this is my sacrifice. Now go." Thor says quietly as he wipes a tear from his brother's cheek. Loki shakes his head quickly, "No, no Thor please!" he cries out as the same two guards drag him out of the room, Loki fighting against him, screaming his brother's name. "Thor! Thor!" The doors slam shut, and the room is quiet for a moment, they cannot hear as Loki beats against the doors, begging to be let back in.
"Thor," he whispers, and a blood chilling scream rips through the air, devouring his soul. The screams cease, and Loki stops. He stands, listening for any sign that it had been a mistake. That Thor had been spared, and once again Loki would be brought in to face his punishment. But no sign came. He wasn't sure how long had passed, before he finally gained the strength to once again stand and escort himself out of the castle. He felt numb, and he could barely walk straight, his mind reeled with questions. Where am I to go now? he asks himself, and looks out into the sky.
"Why brother? Why wouldn't you listen to me for once?" Loki whispers into the dark, and smiles a sad smile. "You always got what you wanted. Why, for once, couldn't you let me have my way?" He bows his head, and feels his nails dig into his palms. All the memories of their childhood floods into him, all the moments they shared as brothers, and worst of all, the moments when Loki turned on the one who actually cared. Blood dripped onto the stone pathway, but he didn't care. He wanted to feel the pain. He wanted to die, and Thor took that away from him.
He looked up at the sky, his old self once again being replaced by the monster within him. "Why don't you ever let me get what I want?" Loki yells, anger rising. He no longer felt sympathy for the fool. He only felt anger towards him. They had taken the wrong life.
