❄️Chapter 5: Hide and Seek❄️

Winter's POV
Time: Saturday

Winter walked into Moon's cave. He thought since Lynx was new, it'd be nice to do something friendly.

"Hey guys, do want to play a game called Hide and Seek?" asked Winter. Winter remembered this game from the rainforest when they were trying to find Icicle. Kinkajou looked like she wanted to play immediately. Moon looked at Lynx, then nodded.

"Sure, how do you play?" Lynx asked. Winter then explained the rules of the game and went to get Turtle and Qibli. First, he had everyone line up at the far side of the hallway.

"The first person to the entrance is the seeker," Winter explained. "Okay, three, two, one, GO!" Kinkajou exclaimed. Everyone took off in sync, but Lynx quickly got in the lead, and she also ended up the first person there, therefore she was the seeker. They decided to give everyone fifty seconds to hide. Lynx covered her eyes with her front talons.

"Fifty, forty-nine, forty-eight, forty-seven," Lynx's voice faded out of Winter's earshot as he ran to the history cave and hid behind a massive plant. After a couple seconds, he saw Qibli run and hide behind Web's desk. Lynx raised her voice.

"Thirty-one, thirty, twenty-nine," Lynx counted down for the rest of the twenty-eight seconds. Thirty seconds after Lynx started seeking, he heard a "Found you!" followed by Moon's squeal and Lynx's giggle.

Cute, Winter thought, wait what? Who? Lynx or Moon? He became confused at himself as to who he thought was cute. I'll think about it later, he thought, a little annoyed at himself.
He strained his ears and heard talon steps approaching the art cave.

He also heard random wings flailing and tail lashing. He then realized that was Lynx trying to find Kinkajou.

"Found you!" Lynx exclaimed.
"AHH! How? I was camouflaged," Kinkajou whined.
"Well, since I was flailing all over the place, it forced you to move and you didn't have enough time to completely camouflage yourself again," Lynx explained. Kinkajou groaned and went to the hallway with Moon, which is where you go if you lose.

Lynx is so smart, Winter thought unconsciously. Unfortunately, Lynx then stepped into the history cave, and seemed to go straight to Winter's hiding spot.

Lynx then peered her head around the enormous plant and saw Winter. Clearly, neither of them expected to see each other in that spot, because their snouts were very close. (On accident, of course.) Lynx realized it a second later, because her face turned a sudden dark blue, and so did Winter's.

"Oh- um, found you," Lynx said, then backing out.
"Right," Winter said, flustered, walking to the hallway. A moment later, he heard
"Found you!" followed by a surprised Qibli yelp. They played a few rounds after that.

*Night, 11:35pm*

<Lynx's POV>
Lynx looked at the night sky. The Jade Mountain entrance had a wonderful view of the night sky, with the moonlight shining down on the trees. Two of the moons were in the crescent phase, and the middle moon was full. She strained her ears for a second, and heard talonsteps. She turned behind her to see Winter walking out of his cave.

"Winter? Why are you awake?" Lynx asked, a little surprised.

"I should be asking you the same question," Winter retorted.

"I took a nap earlier, and it ruined my sleep schedule," Lynx explained. "What about you?"

"I just couldn't sleep," He said. He walked up beside Lynx and also looked at the view. Coincidentally, he sat in a spot with moonlight, which illuminated his pale white and vibrant blue scales. Lynx looked away, a little flustered.

Ugh, what is wrong with me? I don't like him.. do I? Lynx confused and scolded herself at the same time, that's a talent. The IceWings stood together, silently admiring the beautifully illumanted night sky.

<Winter's POV>
Winter looked at Lynx. A funny thing he noticed was that he had began to think about Lynx more than Moon now. Another thing, whenever he thought about Moon, his heart didn't speed up, but it did whenever he thought about Lynx.

No way, he thought. The next thing he thought made his face turn a royal blue:

Maybe I actually do like Lynx now...
