I excitedly skipped downstairs to see Dustin and my mom sat on the couch waiting for me. "Happy Birthday!!" They both yelled. I said thank you and sat with them, opening my presents. My eyes lit up when I saw the new roller skates and skateboard. I hugged my mom and Dustin. "Thank you so much!! I've been wanting these for ages." I said, smiling. I opened my other presents which were clothes and shoes and rushed upstairs to put them on. I did my makeup, threw my hair up in a messy ponytail, grabbed my skateboard and went back downstairs. My mom had made me and Dustin pancakes and we happily ate them. "Are you rollerskating to school?" She asked whilst washing up. I shook my head, "No, I'll be skateboarding instead. Can you drop Dustin off at school today aswell? I'm leaving earlier to meet up with Nancy." I replied. She nodded and I got out my seat, giving them both a quick hug and leaving. "Bye!!" I heard them both say as I closed the door and started to skate away.

I knocked on Nancy's door and Mrs Wheeler opened it, "Hey Evelyn, Nancy's just eating her breakfast but you can come in." She opened the door wider and I stepped inside, thanking her. I followed Mrs Wheeler into the kitchen and Nancy ran up and hugged me, screaming happy birthday. I laughed as she handed me my present. "Oh you got me a present?" I asked with a large smile. She nodded, "Open it!" I slowly opened it, revealing a photo album. I opened it up and the first few pages had us and our friends on it. "This is amazing!! Thank you Nance!" I gave her another hug and put it in my bag. "Mom, Dad, we'll be going now! See you later." She said, waving to them. They waved backed and we left.

We got to school and met up with Barb and Robin, who also got me presents. Barb had gotten me a pair of cute earrings and some rings, whilst Robin did the complete opposite and got me skateboard stickers which came with the longest hug! I thanked them and the bell went off. "Ugh! Mr Clarke is arranging a new seating plan! I fully blame the 'popular' kids for talking all the time." I groaned, rolling my eyes. "If we're lucky, we might still manage to be sat next to eachother." Robin responded. She always made everything positive which is why I befriended her- but she's also a fantastic friend of course! I nodded and we linked arms whilst Nancy and Barb had their own conversation. We walked into his lesson and had us all stand at the back. He started to put us all in our seats. Nancy and Barb were sat next to eachother, luckily, and Robin was sat next to Carol Perkins. Carol was full of herself. She's only 13 and has already lost her- y'know. Everyone was sat down except me and someone else. I looked to see who it was and my jaw dropped when I realised it was Steve Harrington. This could not have gotten any worse!! We both sat down and he just stared at me. I turned around and shook my head at Robin, who was across the classroom, before turning back and facing the front.

We had sat in silence for most of the lesson, I could tell Steve was uncomfortable and I was too- That was before he decided to flick paper at my head. I ignored him which made him do it again. "Hey Adam." He chuckled. He thought he was soooo funny. I saw him roll his eyes before Mr Clarke spoke up, "You guys will be doing a project in pairs." My eyes lit up and I turned around to Robin who put her thumbs up happily. "However, to make sure you're all focused, you'll be doing it with the person you're sat next to." He added. My face dropped and I turned around, "WHAT?" I shouted. Everyone stared at me and I slid down in my seat. Steve laughed and Mr Clarke awkwardly continued with what he was saying.

The lesson finally ended and I got up and grabbed my books and bags. "Your house?" I hesitantly said to Steve who responded with a laugh. "No way! You can do it by yourself, just make sure to put my name on it." Carol and Tommy walked up beside him with large grins. "No, I can't do that. It's cheating." I scoffed. Who did he think he was? "You will do it. I'll pay you $50." He handed me it out of his pocket and a confused look came up on my face. Why did he just have that in his pocket? I sighed. "Fine, but only because it means I won't have to see you after school too." I grabbed the money and stormed out. Robin was waiting for me outside the door and skipped to catch up with me. "Carol's making me do this by myself." She groaned. "Steve's making me do this by myself too!" We both laughed. This gives us a chance to do it together. "Meet up after school and we'll do the project at mine?" I said with a large smile on my face. She nodded, "Can I also sleep over? My mom's been on my ass with the chores again." I don't get why she doesn't just do them... But at the same time I can't blame her. When I first met her mom and dad, they gave me the dirtiest look ever!! And it's only because I asked how the weather was. "Of course, Dustin misses you." I replied.
