Chapter 8.

Light shun under Tobias's blinds warming his face. A sudden weight became feelable on his stomach. Tometio had hopped onto his bed waking him up even more. The little dog licked Tobais's face while he was trying to get the dog to back up. Tometio started sniffing him aggressively, probably smelling the retriever from last night.

Tobais stumbled onto his feet making his way to the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror for the first time since the accident, dry blood ran down his forehead and nose, his lip was bruised on the side, and his wrist in a tight wrap. Nina was right, he didn't look so good. Maybe he should have gotten professional help.

Tobais turned on the shower after taking off the medical tape on his smaller injuries hoping that they wouldn't sting. There were a lot of small marks, it looked like Tometio had scratched him but they were too slim for his claws.

He put his hand where David had once hit him, there was still a red mark from his hand. What was it like to have friends to fight over? Are they really worth protecting?

A person inched into Tobias's head, Selena. Selena was always kind to him, they hung out a lot. Tobais would always call her his friend before Violet made them stop talking to each other.
Selena seemed different from other people he knew. Most of them wanted to stay safe, and inside school rules. She didn't, she used to replace the flag of the school with a pirate flag, vandalize walls, and steal test answers. It makes me wonder if she was a part of the elevator incident too.

Tobias got dressed into his normal clothes tying up his hair in the normal ponytail, sliding his glasses on. His hair was getting rather long, yet he refused to cut it. He says it keeps him warm.

He walked down stairs to see his mother on the phone, she had an exhausted look on her face. She hung up the phone and turned to Tobias who was peering under the archway of the stairs. She signaled for him to come closer, as Tobias walked his knee felt as needles were being jabbed into him at full speed. He finally made it downstairs with a little bit of struggle and limping.

'Tobias, we are going to the hospital just in case anything minor has occurred.'

He just nodded his head, he didn't want to cause any more fuss over his injuries.

'Oh and also your friend stopped by'

'Selena?'

Tobias asked quietly.

'No, I think it was... David? Or Daniel? It was very late and you were already asleep.'

'Yeah it's David, what did he want?'

'He dropped your bag off for you. Everything is still a little wet but I put out some books to dry out.'

'Thanks.'

'Oh and,  you get dressed? We're leaving in a few minutes.'

'I am dressed.'

Jessica looked him up and down, he was wearing an old sweater his father had given to him from his high school, and just some normal jeans. The particular sweater brought back many memories from Tobias's childhood. His father gave that sweater to him when he was around eight, for Christmas.

'You're missing school?'

She asked.

'Yeah I don't think I can stay awake for more than 2 hours.'

'Okay, well, why don't you get something to eat and I'll call the school.'

He nodded his head to her.

Tobais felt as if his knee was broken. He couldn't bend it much or at all. Oddly, his head didn't hurt as much as one might think, scars can be deceiving. He looked down to his knee, it was extremely swollen. Maybe he got it from falling or banging it against the concrete.
