"You can't stop me from doing this Yamato," I said, holding the phone against my ear with my shoulder, "I've been gone for nearly four months, I think it's time to come home,"
It was hour two of the argument that Yamato and I were having. I kept telling him that after the time that I had been gone I was ready to come home. Of course being the worry wart that he was, there was no way that he was going to agree with me on this.
"Lorien I don't think you fully understand what's going on right now!" he said, sounding like he was running around, "we don't know if this dick is still out there!"
"Exactly, he's not going to come out if I'm locked up in a tower," I sat on my suitcase, helping it close, "If we want to find this guy we have to flush him out,"
"I am not allowing you to get hurt again!" he raised his voice, stopping me in my tracks.
"I'm not going to get hurt again," I sighed, resting my head in my hand, "I promise this will end smoothly ok? This is the only way we can stop this,"
I had had several conversations about this with Takao, who was my only source of information since Yamato was dead set on leaving me out of the loop. He thought that by keeping me in the dark it kept me safe, but if anything it made me crazy. There was no way in hell that I was going to allow this psycho to run my life.
"But how can we be sure that this'll work?" his voice was quiet now.
"We don't, but we have to try,"
The silent on the other side of the phone was so long I had thought that he had hung up on me, but I could hear the door clicking shut.
"Fine," he finally spoke up, "but we do this my way,"
"Whatever you want," I smiled, "but I just need to come home,"
"Have you talked this out with Takao?"
My heart tugged a bit. I hadn't come out and told him about the conversation that Takao and I had had about his feelings for me. I didn't feel right sharing that information with him since they were Takao's feelings, but I still felt bad knowing that Yamato didn't know.
"We have," I pulled myself together, "and while he says that it is nice having me here, he can sense that I'm going crazy,"
Just as I had begun to stand up, I heard a loud bang come from the front door.
"What was that?" he asked, letting me know that he heard the sound as well.
"I'm not sure..." I slowly crept to the door, not wanting to make a sound.
Just as my hand was about to reach the doorknob, the door flew open, knocking me over. I could hear Yamato yelling into the phone, but I couldn't hear exactly what he was saying. When I tried to look up and see who was attacking me, I was greeted with something hitting me hard upside the head.
"Lorien?" I yelled, trying to get her attention, "Lorien, what's going on?!"
I heard a soft thud and I could tell that she was no longer holding the phone. After a few seconds, there was the sound of someone picking up the phone and then breathing.
"You should have known that I was going to win," a voice said, coarse and full of dark humor, "she could only stay hidden for so long,"
"Who the hell is this?" I demanded, sprinting down the sidewalk as fast as I could to get to Takao's apartment. I had to get there before he took her or else we would never find her.
