*~*Jack's P.O.V*~*
Toothless hits the ground with a thud, we have landed a few feet away from a tiny cottage. Supposedly this is where Elsa has lived for the past couple years, she directed us to it.
Elsa dismounts without saying a word and hurries into the cottage as if anxious to see something, but what.
I usher myself off onto the melting snow beneath me, staff in hand. Once I make sure Hiccup is okay staying here for a few minutes I hurry in after Elsa.
As I approach the door I hear a distant squeal from the other side of the door, then a thud. I quickly barge in and spot Elsa leaning against the wall smiling, yet breathing heavily. Then to my right I spot her, the red curls and all.
Merida.
"She scared me." Elsa laughs as she lunges towards Merida embracing her in a hug.
"H-how-" Merida begins but is cut off by Elsa.
"Jack fought the spell or whatever that You saw Pitch do. Then he broke me out and helped me escape. But uhm... There are some side-effects." Elsa then twists her wrist and snow begins to swirl around the room. Merida is speechless and stumbles back a few steps.
"Why snow?!," Merida laughs, "this is amazing!"
"I guess it was just part of his experiment, well I was the unintentional one. Jack was just transformed." Elsa sighs and the snow disappears.
"She's right, he wasn't originally after Elsa he was after me." I chime in, Merida turns to me.
"Oh, how did you guys get back here?"
"We got help from a friend, why are you in Elsa's place?" I ask.
"I didn't know it was Elsa's place, all I know is Pitch knocked me out and I woke up here." She brushes some frizz out of her face.
"Well I'm glad we ran into you here!" Elsa chirps happily. I see her hair beginning to turn white once more, her dress is also changing.
"Uh- also one more question. Why are ye guys completely different appearance wise?" She looks both Elsa and I up and down.
"Oh, well it was part of the transformation thing. But I made Elsa look like that, she had to have a disguise in order for us to escape." I reply wrapping my arm around Elsa's shoulders.
"Oh okay, well what do we do no-"
A knock is heard on the cottage door, Hiccup then walks in.
"Hey guys I've been waiting a whi-" Merida and Hiccup lock eyes and both their mouths begin to droop.
"YE BE THE LAD!" Merida hisses and steps back away from Hiccup.
"Merida! Wait just let me explain please!" Hiccup says inching closer, his face is contorted with surprise and pain.
Elsa and I share the same confused look.
"Wait wait wait hold up! What is happening here?" Elsa asks stepping between them.
Merida points to Hiccup, "he's the lad I've been speaking to ye bout. The one who went on his merry way and I was The One Left Behind." She whimpers. Her eyes turn glassy as tears form.
"Merida please I didn't leave you behind! Let me ex-"
"No, don't explain. Ye left me, end of the story." She wipes the tears with her hands.
Elsa approaches Hiccup and whispers into his ear. He nods to her and a small smile grows over his face, "thanks," he replies. Elsa nods and walks to Merida, both of them leave the cottage.
Hiccup looks up at me, his eyes also glassy. Sympathy rushes through me and I do the first thing that comes to mind. I hug him.
"How am I going to get her back, everything is messed up. It looks like one thing but it's something completely different." He says pulling away and wiping his face.
I put myself in his situation, what if Elsa wouldn't believe me. what if she wouldn't let me explain a situation.
"I don't know Hiccup," I reply, "I don't know."
*~*Epic Time Skip*~*
Hiccup and I decide to go to the village and get some food. We have had some casual conversations and exchanged a few laughs as I attempt to keep the subject off Merida. But then he drops the question-
"Do you think she will ever understand?"
"Understand what exactly?"
"It's kind of a long story." He rubs the back of his neck.
I drag him over to a nearby table and we both sit down, I lay the food out. "We've got time."
He sighs and begins-
"So about six months ago we met and kind of took an interest in each other. We began seeing each other on a regular basis, after about three months I decided that I was going to get her a ring, so I left without telling her. So no questions were asked. Toothless and I flew back to Berk so I could make one in my shop-"
Berk? I'm just going to assume that's his homeland.
"-Yet while I was there Berk was raided by one of our most hated enemies. My dad dragged me into fighting against them and after a few days they finally left. But during the raid I guess they stole my ring so I had to completely remake it. And I attempted to come back but everything was dark and I got lost. Now I'm here."
Hiccup reaches into his pocket and pulls out the ring. It has a silver hoop that twists around like a warped tree branch, and sitting on top is a diamond.
"That's one beautiful ring, I'm sure she will love it. But I would advise to give her some time, keep some distance. Wait until she approaches first." I smile and stuff some food into my mouth.
Hiccup nods and puts the ring away, he calls to Toothless.
"I just need time to take this all in, sorry for such an exit. So much has happened within the past couple hours," he climbs onto Toothless, "Ill be back."
With one swoosh of Toothless 's mighty wings they are up and soaring away. I'm not quite sure where he is going considering it a still dark. But I don't feel like stopping him, he needs time to himself.
I shake my head, "I hope he gets her back." I mumble.
